A couple more examples, this time from the raw achives of TV Home -
ITV National Weather 1 (Real Media - LQ)
ITV National Weather 2 (Real Media - LQ)
I think they were probably recorded in 1999 - when was this style dropped?

Thanks for those Asa.
The "WeatherGens" were introduced in 1996, and were discontinued in 2001.

Ah, yes, I remember that one. ISTR that it didn't get shown as often as some of the other ones.

Yes it wasn't shown often. I remember during 2001 that the sun sting, "Gilda", was given a continual showing. IIRC it was even the final one shown when the "series" ended in October of that year.
It was a grand sequence alright but I have to say that the others were better ("Shivra" etc).

Very nice. Been a good long time since I saw any of them (to the point where they actually felt somewhat new and compelling) but my god are they ever pretentious but in a good way? Oddly 90's too, truly something not desperately needed as it is just a weather sponsor sting but would be nice to have 10 seconds of drama before my weather now.
Got to ask where have some of you got the names for each character in these stings?

They are verified in this here article.
Frice was indeed rather scary; Norwin maybe not so much, but I do find the final wide shot exceedingly creepy; a still of which can be seen in this slidey stills SWF from the designers' site as the 4th one along.

I always thought Shivra was played by a female... don't know why.

Good stuff
Obviously some were used more than others
Shivra was used practically all winter with Brellina used the rest of the year!
I can't recall Helios, what's that supposed to represent?
Notice these are the original versions, before they shortened them, changed the endboard, updated the ITV logo and introduced an announcement over the top
Eon should bring them back, but it'll never happen
