Going off topic a bit, but another 1993 - 1996 weather sting has been uploaded on YouTube:

ITV National Weather, September 1993

I don't recall seeing this one at all, though I like it very much. It's a pity that only a select few of these '93 stings are readily available (not counting the jingles for all of those sequences. I have them somewhere on my computer in an mp3. I'll probably upload it here shortly.)

Whatever happened to that 'dog in the wind' one? Smile

Why does the ITV Weather suddenly look like it's being presented on a satellite channel from Eastern Europe?

Becky and the map look very blurry and the sound is very muffled. I noticed this yesterday as well. The stings are fine though.

Very strange. Confused

The picture quality on the weather forecast tonight looked awful, it was literally like a worn down VHS tape:

(Excuse the bad capture of Becky)

Yeah, I noticed this earlier, the sound is louder and awful. Perhaps they've got problems with the usual software.

We know where you're looking instead of the map Laughing

Seriously, the picture quality is absolutely abysmal, but the thing that confuses me is that the picture quality of the weather here in the North West is fine.

London Weather came on around 5 minutes after and the picture quality was normal/fine. Out of interest where is the National Weather filmed from?

IIRC the national weather forecast is filmed at ITN (Gray's Inn Road).

I think she's lost a contact lens in that picture Wink

Wonder what the problem is with the output, very odd

...and it's happened again tonight... (incidentally it's Becky again. Are they trying to spoil our viewing or something?? Wink Laughing )

Well it was until the 1st of April. Now Millbank studios as the Met office have got a cheaper deal!

I don't see why ITV Weather doesn't use the ITV studio, I mean the whole set is one big giant screen screen. Surely that would be cheaper, if not free because its the same set as the ITV News output?

If they moved to Millbank on the 1st April, that is when the weather started coming through in bad quality. Sorry to state the obvious ...
