There's a team of forecasters (based at YTV) who do the weather reports for the Northern regions (YTV, Granada, Tyne Tees, Border). Jon and (later on) Debbie started with Calendar back in the 1990s.


I know about YTV forecasters doing the weather for Northern regions. E.g. Kerrie Gosney.. But I thought Jon just did Calendar now, but obviously not then.

He is the main forecaster for Calendar thesedays. In Yorkshire we only see the other ones in the morning and at weekends

ITV Yorkshire Weather is sponsorless from today by the way, presumably a new one will be on its way soon

Why is it when the forecast ends it goes to a black screen, and then into the sponsor, can they not fade the weather into the sponsor? It looks messy the way they are currently doing it.

Presumably to allow UTV to clean opt over the top of it?

Oh dear! Saw the new sponsors today.

The uncomfortable, almost embarrassed silence from the forecaster after the opening sting said it all.

Why have they still not sorted that problem? For what seems like forever there's a 2-3 second gap at the beginning of the forecast.

It's better when there is a 2-3 second gap at the end when Martyn Davies is on, pulling an uncomfortable face!

Two days in, and the folks at Havelock House are still getting used to opting out of the Sheilas - the ladies were unleashed for a few frames at lunchtime before the GoCompare sponsor sting crashed its way in.

But after the Late Nooz, they did manage a nice fade from sponsor to a waiting Martyn Davies.

I always love that, its like an increasing smile. I wonder what happens if there's a pause for 10 seconds - does he blow raspberries?!
