Excuse me? Care to explain how that idea isn't complete insane nonsense?!

What I'm concerned about is that we might accidentally get the title sequence carried over from ITV. True, the choice of Moby's Lift Me Up as the theme tune was excellent, but the titles always gave me a headache. Hopefully the BBC will come up with a better F1 title sequence than a roulette wheel and some naked ladies.

Surely the Beeb will use their original Fleetwood Mac F1 music - or a remix of it - it is iconic after all... Just like the Golf music...

The original Fleetwood Mac/remixed version? I hope not - how boring would that be? Rolling Eyes

Well Bernie joked on the BBC interview with him that one reason he was glad the Beeb had got the rights back was that they would bring back the music.

Some sporting musical themes - Grandstand, Match of the Day, Ski Sunday, Cricket, Wimbledon, Golf etc. have become iconic. For me - and a lot of us who were adults when F1 was on the BBC - the Fleetwood Mac track was also iconic. Even now, when I hear it, I think of F1.

Interesting that Bernie suggested that he decided to terminate ITV's contract early... (Apparently the ITV contract allowed for that)

Ah but good old Bernie is an unpredictable maniac, so you never know...

I'm not 100% sure that the BBC won't just go back to how it was, to be honest. See Match of the Day for an example (albeit marginally updated). The latter days of the Premiership on ITV, when it was relegated to 10.30pm and just got on with showing the bloody football rather than trying to be clever, was better than the current smug BBC effort.

Incidentally, as there is no Champions' League thread, does anyone know how the new arrangement for ITV will affect STV's rights to show Scottish games?

I wouldn't mind Hammond presenting the F1. Remember that he is trained as a DJ, presenter and journalist, and, considering his job, is probably very knowledgeable on the subject. Also, he is very enthusiastic, which can't be faulted.

But he has said he doesn't like F1 but maybe has a new found appreciation of the Sport after driving that Renault F1 car.

I wouldn't be surprised to see North One continue to produce F1 for the BBC.

They used The Chain on the Five Live coverage at 6:15am today.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if the BBC keep the entire current set up as ITV have just with a few more extras. People grow accustomed to presenters and the format and changing it doesn't make sense, it works well on ITV (who have done an excellent job over the last 12 years). It is for me a bonus not having any ad breaks as i have always felt us F1 fans are not treated quite as respectfully as Football fans who do not get add breaks apart from before, after and in half time. I really hope that the current presenters are part of the deal. Louise Goodman and Martin Brundle have been with it for a long time now and it would be ashame to loose them. Another bonus for it going to BBC is i would imagine it will be simulcast on BBC HD given F1 is now available in HD format (HD trucks have certainly been present in the media villages at F1 races for the last three years but im unsure if they were used to produce the World feed or just independant broadcasters).
