None need to come back. Why bring something old back for the sake of it?
I still truly hate the current ITV logo (the English and Pockett designed 1989-1998 logo is still simple, clean and elegant) however, I can see how it links the family of channels adequately.
But, do I want the current logo ditched to bring something back from the dregs of the archive? No.
And throwback idents only work when there's a historical event to hang them off - and there won't be one of those along on ITV for another 4 years.

huh, good point
honestly, i’m just surprised at the notion, considering that the bbc and channel 4 have dug out their old idents more than once for some special purpose that isn’t anniversary related

I don't think it was ever used on air by any ITV company, it was an IBA concoction used on their printed literature, and on air on their Tuesday morning engineering info programme ? There was also an ILR one in the same style
I feel like the 1970-1980 logo would look quite good with a few modern tweaks.

Is there really that much nostalgia for the previous two packages? Before that, it's all the regional stuff (which was referenced during the Gameshow Marathon, for example).

To be honest, it’s only since 1989 that ITV has had a corporate logo as such. The earlier ones were used interchangeably up until 1989 on literature and the odd promo, but they tended to change the logo every season, down to the whim of the ITV company who had designed the new season promos. Even the 1989 one wasn’t universally adopted by all the ITV companies.
None of the early logos have any sort of real history attached to them, as they were so rarely seen on the channel - unlike the BBC and Channel 4 logos of yesteryear. So there’s not really any heritage in them to bring back for a special occasion. I would much rather see the regional ITV logos resurrected in the appropriate region to mark anniversaries etc.

I thought the 1980-89 one featured was a Channel 4 designed one, for their (C4's) cross promotion slides ? I don't think any ITV company used it ? It was normally 3D, and with 'oil on water' style colours ?
