It was mentioned a while back itv have created a number of local to be used for the local news. Are there still used? There seems to be no record of these anywhere.
Much more cost effective to show a non-geographic specific ident and have the CA change from saying "Now on ITV, the news where you are" to "Now on ITV, the news in our region".
Also, local idents (featuring landmarks presumably) run the risk of highlighting how vast the regions have become… Swindon town centre is going to say nothing a viewer in Brighton. At best it'll raise the question "where the hell is that?" at worst "How is this local programme relevant to me when Swindon is twice as far from where I am as London is and what goes on there is half as interesting because it's three times as expensive to get there so I'm much less likely to visit there?!"
They're still doing them. There's not just a single recorded version for each region either - certainly on Granada there are versions with and without presenter name-checks, and I'm almost certain that different announcers have used different symbols.
It's the same reason why GMB initially decided to pre-record a dozen links every morning, and why the BBC still airs regional continuity into the news. It's almost a subliminal effect but it makes things appear a bit less bland and corporate. There's no reason not to do it (it's certainly not more 'cost-effective'), and there was no obvious reason why the 6pm junction was ident-less altogether for 10 years.

There is no record because there is absolutely no point in logging every bloody ident whenever it appears.
I don't know about idents that show local landmarks, but there's certainly idents in use with localised continuity now. Granada have been using the bikes ident with local announcements since new years. When I visited my parents over Christmas, while flicking from Meridian HD to Anglia SD I noticed that both were showing different idents (I missed the announcements so I'm not sure if they were localised).
I've noticed all the regions seem to use the rowers ident with a generic "news in your region" announcement when they don't have a local one to play. I'm guessing that the rowers one is played out from London and the local ones from the local news galleries, as it's always a perfect cut to and from the rowers ident, whereas I've seen the local ones start playing a few frames late and fade out to the titles.

Oh good, we have no bloodly record of what the actully idents ARE! Great....

As far as I know they are just the usual itv idents with regional announcements. I can't say I've seen any special versions.
It's a shame they're not allowed a regional legend below the main logo, akin to BBC One.
What's the situation with ITV Wales these days? Do they still get regional idents during regional variations? I know the Cardiff-based continuity and 'Wales' branding at every junction has long since been discontinued.

They still get recorded announcements in front of regional and timeshifted/filler shows, usually referring to ITV Cymru Wales - the Cymru was added at the time of the rebrand. Similarly local trailers are still aired regularly. But nothing visual on screen - just verbal branding over normal idents, as with the new regional news idents.
