Should itv choice launch in UK as itvs 7day catch up channel

ITV launches Choice in Singapore

ITV has inked a deal with Singapore pay-TV operator Singtel to launch ITV Choice. The international channel is now available in over 100 countries across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Singaporean viewers will now be able to watch dramas including Doc Martin series seven, The Trials of Jimmy Rose, as well as entertainment staples The Jonathan Ross Show and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. They will also get Coronation Street and Emmerdale within 48 hours of UK TX.

Surly better line up on offer thasn itv be channel in UK... So why not have itv choice in UK as 7 day catch up channel?

Because we have ITV, 2, 3, 4, CITV, be, Encore and not forgetting the ITV Player where the majority of programmes can be found.

But c4 has e4..more 4..4music..film 4 and online (but still) has catch up channel so if one or more such as channel 5 offer it why not itv ? Itv choice abroad has good listings rather have that here than itv be

No need. ITV Choice is designed to show international viewers and British ex-pats the best of ITV's programming which is already shown in the UK on the numerous channels mentioned above.

Just because C4 and C5 have done similar things doesn't mean it's a good idea.

ITV Choice as a channel would be totally redundant as a channel outside of the UK and Ireland, it's designed for ex-pats abroad, and from what I've seen on the website it's on a shoestring budget and lots of the shows aren't shown within the week, quite often weeks or months old. ITV and 2/3/4/Encore/Be are adequate enough for the UK audience.

I'd like to see ITV focus there effort ensuring all channels are HD (ITV Be and CITV) and looking to invest in 4k content.

ITV platforms have always been HD reluctant. ITV player is still not HD, as is its service on many platforms.

ITV HD. Same crap but clearer.

ITV2 does the same job. It thrives on repeating most of the stuff ITV aired earlier. Copious times over.
Then of course ITV+1, ITV Player, ITV On demand through Sky, Virgin, etc. In other words, don't need it.

But yes, just because C4 and 5 have done it doesn't mean ITV should follow. If I see somebody crash into a lamppost should I also crash into one?

Still better than the smelly dihorrea that many other channels offer and far more popular!

Neither adds much to the landscape. For me 4seven fails because it doesn't do justice to the channels biggest shows - when it launched it billed it self as being a place to catch up with the shows people were talking about, but look at Humans, the stations biggest show in years and (presumably) thanks to rights issues it's limited to one off-peak airing on 4seven. It's the same with Not Safe for Work, one of their most promising new comedy dramas of that ilk for years IMO. No reason those repeats couldn't be on C4 itself.

Meanwhile the cheap factual content gets repeated later the same night, the next night and once or twice more during the week, and also often on C4 as well too.
