After the News was just previewed on the regional news. The autocue was in full shot in one of the screens behind Nick which looked fake to me but went along with what he was saying. Was this the same promo as shown on News at Ten if there was a promo?

After Ten would be a much better brand, unless they're thinking it'll be so successful it'll be moving to 7pm within a couple of weeks.

Until due to the news being pushed back either pre planned or due to football, it ends up airing after eleven, and then becomes the subject of ridicule.

Wouldn't say the autocue was fake - however at the end you see the title of the next script, which was non time-specific, and I do wonder why they didn't use that one considering the programme was next!

Very nice redressing of the Channel 4 news set - the same screens but otherwise very different, with a raised-up rostrum over where the lit-up floor on the C4 set is.

As mentioned the set re-dressing looks great. Really nice design and wholy appropriate for a nightly broadcast. So far in terms of content it's just been another debate between 2 politicians and a pointless live to the newsroom at the telegraph to see their front page.

The only thing I really don't like is the audio branding which feels very weak. There's really nothing to that theme tune or stings and compared to distinct audio brands on ITV like NaT its very poor.

Nice set and graphics. Just a shame the show content is very bland as is the music.

The guests looked pretty bored when they weren't speaking too, which is a problem when most of the shots kept all the guests in vision at all times.

I can't see it lasting.

When Emily Thornbury is your most credible guest you should know you’ve got something wrong.

It’s all a bit dry for my liking. A This Week clone wouldn’t have worked because it would have just looked like a poormans This Week. It could certainly do with a bit of humour and being a bit lighter though.

It also helps not to have guests so close to the party line and therefore being able to give a true analysis of the situation as well as their own opinions. We don’t need a repeat of what more senior members of the parties have said on the Sunday mornings shows for the rest of the week.

All in all, it didn’t really work for me.

It definitely has potential... I just think the content needs refining. It ended up being a debate between two politicians which just as they were getting started were being cut off to move to the next story.

I think it could work better if it focused more on the press preview (without copying Sky, obviously), just going through the front pages and talking about the big stories, not just with politicians but with journalists and commentators.

As for the set, great - only thing is the table, not really a practical shape or height but I'm guessing they are recycling what the C4 News has. Also, the titles and theme were very weak. The branding doesn't really fit with the set, and as I have said - would have been better to go with something like The Agenda with Tom Bradby did on-screen presentation wise.

The desk is clearly meant to be in line with ITV News.

I agree with most of your points though. It could do with better coverage of the day to day stuff and a couple of pundits to challenge the politicians. Perhaps it should be a more reactive Question Time/Agenda style show without the audience.

It's probably why it's been given the softest of soft launches, ie barely mentioned at all. So they can find the right format in a couple of weeks.

So after the ITV News, the CA says...

"The Jonathan Ross Show is after a brand new here on ITV, after the news."

I knew it was a terrible name.

But with a bit of creativity and thought, they could have said something that sounded better than that.

For me the show was not great. I don't know why but it felt a bit like The Pledge on Sky News. I think it should have been more light-weight with some humour. A bit like a more serious version of 'Have I got news for you' if that makes any sense!
