Felt this warranted its own thread...

Quote:
ITV is to take on shopping channels such as QVC and Ideal World with the launch of its own shopping brand “The Store” as a 24-hour television service.

“The Store”, which will offer viewers the chance to buy products sponsored by television presenters including Melanie Sykes and the reality TV performer Frankie Essex, from The Only Way is Essex, is being launched by JML, a consumer brand company and business partner of ITV.

Doesn't surprise me since there's a placeholder on Freeview for quite a while now.

Well, the Zone has been divided between this and Jackpot 247 for a while, so this isn't much of a surprise. I wonder where this leaves the Zone, which airs in CITV's downtime?

Good to see they've learnt from the ITV Play fiasco by not launching ITV Shop. I wonder if they'll be using the studio space recently vacated by Argos TV at JML.

Of course, this is not the company's first attempt at online shopping.

Shop! was launched by Granada before the ITV merger with Carlton with studios at Albert Dock in Liverpool.

Oh I used to love this channel for some bizzare reason! I remember that Scottish woman who used to do it, and she went onto work for Going Places TV (i think?)?

EDIT: After a little digging I have found the final closedown of the channel:

I hope they stop showing The Store on ITV now. I know not much thought goes into night time schedules but there's nothing more insulting to the eyes than watching what is essentially QVC with a studio audience.

Debi Jones. She also worked briefly for Ideal World (where pretty much the entire Shop! presenting team went initially), as well as standing unsuccessfully as a Conservative candidate in Liverpool (where she's from, I think) twice.

That's the one! She always reminded me on Kirsty Young.

She wasn't Scottish?
