ITV launch new style credits

Or, erm, not... (June 2007)

I'll stick my neck out and say that the credit design for This is Your Life on earlier is ITV's new design.

The lines background has gone. The credits are now horizontal scroll in the bottom third of the screen over the studio shot (although a guess a basic background may be used for other shows).

Exactly like the Australian/US versions and obviously we can guess what will be shown in the upper section Shocked

I actually prefer this style on the whole.

Saying this, I bet the independent companies who use the bottom screen credits to block out ITV's promotion techniques won't be best pleased! Wink

ITV have used this style for a while now on shows like Al Murray's Happy Hour and This Is David Gest. I don't think ITV will use this as the default credits though.

I saw the programme and don't think that anything can be read into it, just that the programme makers asked to run the credits in a non-standard way due to the nature of the show's ending

Wouldn't it be better for it to be like in a overlay fashion rather then scrollers? If they go this way at least we won't have to see that disgusting blue credits again, and they overlay the promo/slides on the top.

Ah, fair enough. First time I'd seen them done in that way and what with the rumour of a change to the credits I thought this was the new style.

I noticed at the end of "This is Your Life" that they showed this variant of the ITV Productions endcap:

It is just me or does it look enhance the ugly design of the endcap? The ITV font makes it look worse.

I noticed how bad that looked to many 'productions' and not enough doubling up of company names. Either the full name is a contractual reason or if it wasn't then someone wasn't thinking clearly. A cleaner version should have read..
