I was going to create a thread on this but discovered this one. I personally don't like this new style but it did need a change since the previous one was used since ITV underwent the rebrand back in 2013

No, it didn't need a change. All the other ITV channels are still using the focussing dot, and now the prime channel is out on its own. We saw what happened to the BBC's presentation when they started ignoring the style guide set by ML-N...

My sentiments exactly. It's a disconnect between the main ITV channel and its digital offshoots, which are decently consistent with each other with promos. I'm pretty sure this will stay until another rebrand of the network (which I think is still far away to be fair). But then again, it's not the first time we've seen a refresh of promos - the 2006 rebrand had some fair share of promo changes over the years.

As for BBC presentation, the inconsistency has already reached its magnum opus.

I feel the new Promo and ECP style is a step backwards (Just like the ITV1 promo style of 2012).

I like them, I often think air dates/times aren't prominent enough during trails.

Side by side text and logo to a bigger lighter weight font. It is like history repeating itself...

Yep. Unfortunately

I'm not convinced on these trailers, especially the way that they just begin with a cut, it seems odd especially with the Voice break bumpers having no branding attached to them. You could say that ITV2 started the unravelling of a strong cross channel brand when it changed it's identity, removed the trailer transition and changed the layout of programme information. For me this image demonstrates how strong the whole network design was to have a consistent layout with each channel having a unique design.

EDIT: A new 'Back Soon' slide has appeared during the current airing of 'The Boat That Rocked', same style as the trailer end boards with the text at the top of the screen replacing the quick fade bumper previously used in and out of film & imported drama parts. The break bumper remains the ident sized logo but the background is now plain white. They also play out differently with the logo fading out into the break and fading in out of the break.

I don't like them myself. I get the idea of making the text bigger, but it's now just too big for my tastes. The plain white background makes it feel a lot cheaper than the nice gradient background of the previous style. A big shame to lose the transitions between trailers as well.

I'm not going to lose sleep over it but it's a disappointing change.

Really impressed by this new update. At a time when other rival channels, including the BBC, are showing little effort in terms of all things presentation related this new ITV look really stands out. Once again it's sleek, stylish and productive too. Well done ITV!

All absolutely dreadful. It was so much better before in my opinion. A complete move in the wrong direction, and a completely unnecessary set of changes in any event.

I don't think it's an improvement. It's a bit ugly in my opinion. Though it isn't as bad as 'oneness' so I can forgive them. I don't think 2017 is going to go down well in TV pres history....

Also, I'm finding the ITV logo a bit stale and ugly looking now. It's fine when it's all one solid colour but there's times when I look at the
multi-coloured version and it sometimes looks nasty.

The problem with the old cloaking is that it meant every trail had hundreds of versions in case it was cross promoted. The flow idea didn't work half the time anyway with sponsorship etc

I also prefer the time etc bigger. They were far too small before
