Just to say ITV2 now has a number of bumpers for the new series of Love island.

Wasn't sure where else if anywhere to post this: an advert went out on ITV Central at 20:30 without sound. Looks like it was a local ad as it was for a car dealership in Wednesbury.
It's been like that for a few weeks. It's very odd when it plays out and there's just silence!

Clever marketing as each time I always look up to the TV thinking there is a problem just to see the latest car bargains.

This doesn't have anything to do with the specific ad we're talking about, but you make a good point that I've noticed about TV adverts - they're all so loud that when something completely or near silent comes on, it actually makes you pay attention more and even look up from what you're doing. Funny.

Many TVs and what not have AVL (automatic volume level) on them which is supposed to smooth the differences out between programmes and adverts, though the effectiveness of this is up for debate and it this may only work if the TV has built-in Freeview (or direct "access" to the sound for want of a better phrase) as it doesn't seem to have any effect on Sky or similar.

Oh, I see, so it's deliberate! Certainly caught my attention.
