Why does this thread say that this new channel is the UK's first FTA kids channel on the subtitle? That is nonsense.

Indeed. It may be the only FTA commercial kids channel at present (I'm not even sure that it is, but I can't think of any), but it is by no means the first FTA kids channel, and is not even the first 'FTA digital commercial kids channel' - that was Boomerang (note to the marketing people - is it really worth trying to run with a tagline if you need to add two levels of qualification to it which even then leaves it completely inaccurate?)

Jonathan Lewis, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels said: “A dedicated kids channel will enable us to fully exploit our existing library of quality children’s programming and build valuable brands around new properties such as Granada’s Pocoyo. We will also reap the benefits of being the only commercial children’s channel on Freeview.

They're going to 'build valuable brands around new properties'? Are ITV's press releases now nothing more than selected portions of a transcript from a boardroom meeting?

I don't have Sky so know nothing about it, but from info I've seen about free satellite channels don't GMTV have a couple of free to air kids channels called something like "Pop" or "Tiny Pop".

Always common misconceptions in TV - for example we're always told Family Affairs was the first five-night a week soap in the UK, but Pobol y Cwm had been airing every weeknight on S4C for years before that - but just because 95% of the population can't watch it, it's deemed unimportant! Laughing

Maybe if they release the branding we'll get a better idea of what ITV have planned for the overhaul.

I'd liek to see Wolf It again personally. The show was a bit sadistic (a lot actually!), but I liked it!

Wow- I had almost forgotten about Mike and Angelo. One of the greatest kids shows of the early 90s

Spatz (is that what it was called) was a good show, T-Bag, the Sooty Show from the 90's The Rod and Emu Show, Streetwise, Children's Ward, How 2, Rainbow, Woof, the list is endless, this is the sort of channel they should launch IMHO.

What was that show with Lisa Dingle from Emmerdale in it? I was only young at the time and I don't have a clue what it was called. I think it had a garden in it but I can't confirm that.

And what about the famous Budgie the helicopter from the 1990s. Brilliant stuff.

How about some genuinely classic stuff, such as Follyfoot? I'm still waiting to see the latter half of series 3 which was missed out of the late 80s run.

24Seven is hardly "classic" CITV - it ran for just two series before being dumped.

It wasn't that long ago. It was sh*t, presented by someone last seen on Celebrity Wrestling Rolling Eyes Although they did repeat Spatz during that. Smile
