I personally preferred the insanity of Bradley's tenure, though he's a busy man as it is on ITV. And then again, I liked how sincere Jason was, involving people on social media more than anybody else has.

I agree with other members on here, either Bradley or Jason for me! Probably, leaning towards Bradley just as a personal preference, I like the feeling of organised chaos he brings Laughing

It is interesting how much a big name makes to the YouTube views, by a huge margin the vast majority of their top viewed videos online are from Gordon Ramsay's week. I enjoyed Gordon a lot, as he brought something slightly different to the show but then Bradley came along and stole it.

Gordon was a breath of fresh air, but I thought the cooking segments should've been reserved for something in the late afternoon, the constant digs at Jamie Oliver got very tired very quickly, and he didn't feel particularly natural reading the autocue. He managed it, but you could tell he'd fall to bits if something went wrong.

To be fair, since The Nightly Show is to at least some extent based upon the US late night comedy talk show format, there's nothing entirely wrong with having occasional food segments as long as they're entertaining and especially if a famous chef or other food expert is on as a guest ... but not necessarily as the host It's something I've seen on Letterman and Conan many times over the years, and Colbert has even done some food related segments since taking over hosting The Late Show.

Although I do agree regular cooking based programming should be restricted to daytime hours, but for some reason, cooking based shows in primetime have become very popular in recent years ... Masterchef and GBBO being two of the biggest examples of this.

The format Gordon did could be developed into some sort of weekly chat/cooking format, but I don't think it is suitable for a nightly late night chat show

Dermot's delivery during the monologue is starting to get on my tits now.

After doing so well the first week it seems Dermot's second tenure at this has proved much less popular.

I still don't feel they've found the right host. It definitely needs to be just one host, someone with high energy for that time of night and relatable with good interviewing skills.

The choice of guests over the course has left something to be desired, half the time I've no idea who most of the guests are.

I'm glad to see it come to an end next week. It hasn't quite worked out how ITV had hoped. I believe they should have made more pilots and screen tests before coming to air to find the host before transmission, rather than commissioning effectively an 8 week pilot.

I shall be glad to see News at Ten back again next week, at the time that it should most certainly stay.

Watching At the Palladium, I think The Nightly Show should have been based more to that. Variety. Music, acts, small audience paticipation, comedy. Less of the interviews.

As I said right at the start of this thread, the fundamental mistake is that late night shows don't work as part of a prime time schedule. The clue is in the name of the genre.

Can't quite believe it made it to the end - it's ratings certainly didn't justify it and I wonder if the election had been called earlier whether ITV would have been more likely to reinstate News at Ten and bump the Nightly Show to 10.30 or 10.45.

I agree with what Whataday says - certain shows play better in certain slots, and also with chat shows they need to have a strong identity, something rotating hosts doesn't allow for. Not a complete write off though - they could probably develop something with Bradley Walsh or Jason Manford off the back of it, but they'd be wise to concentrate on a weekly format rather than something nightly.

John Cleese definitely giving the last show (ever?) a good boost.

Overall, this series has a lot of potential. But they need the right host, the right duration (and in turn, time slot) and the confidence to leave the show in the hands of the host rather than force a bunch of gimmicky features on them.

It was the new boss' idea... wasn't ever going to get ditched half way through.
