Looks like STV won't broadcast The Nightly Show at all. We have Scotland Tonight at 11pm (the first of three special shows from Holyrood), Inside the Major Crimes Team at 11.35, and Teleshopping at 0.35.

Well, from what I've seen on the STV website (you could be right though) TNS is on at 10:00-10:30 while on STV Glasgow and Edinburgh it isn't on at all. Apparently, the ITV News is at the (currently) normal time of 10:30-11:00 but the STV News (Glasgow or Edinburgh) is between 11:25-11:35 after Scotland Tonight at 11:00-11:25.

Tonight's show has been rescheduled to 11:15pm due to an extended news on the election.

I know a General Election has just been called but does that warrant an extra half an hour of news over TNS. We have already had about 4 hours of coverage at lunchtime and the evening news will probably be the same as well. Is it different in the other regions or is everything similar if not the same. I wonder how UTV and STV will deal with this anyway.

I wonder what STV will do, and how ITV will get Border back on schedule considering they need to fit Representing Border in as well! The ITV website currently shows ITV off-air for fifteen minutes at eleven.

On that basis you might as well only have one news programme a day.

Good to see ITV giving the news priority. Think they may have learned their lesson.

As for Dermot - contractual obligation is my theory. Suspect his hosting duties are linked to his X Factor deal - he's basically ITV's to do with what they want.

Doubt it. He's contracted to do The X Factor. You assume he doesn't want to host a nightly TV show, with the money that comes with it, and prefers to disappear from TV screens for 8 months at a time.

I would've loved to have seen Dermot lose a show again though. I wonder what would happen in the news if he hosted another week?

Jon Culshaw doing his repitoire of half baked impressions tonight, complete with Donald Trump sketch. I can't say I've ever noticed any blatant attempt at a YouTube viral video until now. Such a shame to see the show nosedive after two brilliant weeks.

Watching the first part of last night's show I couldn't help feel that using solitary pianist for music rather lacks the atmosphere & energy the show needs. Dermot is a great presenter, however during the intro it felt a bit flat due to him not being a professional comedian.

By contrast tuning in to Tonight at the Palladium with Bradley Walsh they had a band in one of the boxes. Also a noted a couple weeks ago the likes of Bradley Walsh and Jason Manford are professional entertainers. I dare say comedians are used to material not always working as planned, and have learnt how to handle such instances.

I think the Nightly Show has got potential, but might benefit from a longer 45 minute slot.

If they proceed I think I'd go with Jason Manford and the set up he used last week, with a 45 min slot from 10:45
