What I don't understand about this is that if they are to recommissioning the series it will be for next year. Surely if they're looking for something similar to the US nightly chat show they need to bring it back sooner than a years time.

I thought it would be September it would come back? or even at last another set of tests maybe around BGT time?

Bradley Walsh is definitely the best host up to now.

Not a fan of the idea of giving Dermot an extra week. Could they really not have found an extra presenter? Or are they just doing him a favour because he lost a show? If he still got paid, I'd say he was at an advantage.

They said they were going to change presenters every week, they didn't say they were all going to be different presenters and once they'd done it they could never do it again. Have I Got News For You changes presenter every week, but the same ones come around every so often. It could just as easily be the case that nobody else is available that week, or whoever they'd planned had to pull out, or a myriad reasons. Given the ad hoc way they're announcing presenters, it seems likely there's no grand plan here, otherwise they'd have announced them all at the start.

Even if it because his week was interrupted, that is still a valid reason to get him back. I'm reminded here of Kevin Greening standing in for Mark Radcliffe on the Radio 1 breakfast show and Princess Diana dying during it, and he was asked to stay on for an extra week, ostensibly to put the story to bed and stop it being too jarring when Mark and Lard came back. But in The Nation's Favourite, Greening says that he thought the main reason they asked him to do an extra week was because they'd been doing some research about him on the breakfast show, which obviously Diana week rather interrupted. So by asking him to stay on for another week they were able to have him doing a normal show and start the research again, and funnily enough a week later he was given the job full time.

So it could well be the case that they want Dermot on again so they can see how he works in a normal week rather than a totally atypical week. It's not for Dermot's sake, it's for their sake.

What I don't understand about this is that if they are to recommissioning the series it will be for next year. Surely if they're looking for something similar to the US nightly chat show they need to bring it back sooner than a years time.

I don't think they have said that. I don't know why they would.

The Joe Pasquale bits are horrific.

Bradley must have some dirt on Joe, surely.

This week is really setting it apart and proving that an entertaining show can be aired in this slot. It has been very quick moving, and even interviews are kept quick and entertaining, compare this week to the Roger Doultry interview. This along with a host who's enjoying himself makes for a brilliant show to end the night with.

The house band are for this week by the looks of Bradley's website coupled with the fact that Steve Sidwell worked with Brad on his album would suggest that he and the band are Bradley's Fat Tony.

I think this also proves you need a proper comedian to get his show off the ground. You also need some one who is off this trolly a bit. Im not to sure if ITV will want to go down this road. Personnel I think ITV should try someone else on week 8 that matchs Bradley or someone just wacky.

This week is a far superior production to the previous weeks. However many of Bradley's features are just poor. 'Fake News at Ten' and the Joe Pasquale bits do not work.

The house band really improve the feel of the show and I must say I hope they stay along with a live voiceover artist even if it isn't Redd Pepper.

I think he just wanted to try something different compared to everyone else. There not great but thats the whole point of the trail runs.

Does he even need to be in the studio? ITV could pay in small fee to record the a weeks worth of shows each Monday?

Bradley's given the show the energy boost it needed from Day 1. The new intro generates the buzz and Brad comes out like he's been hosting the show for years. There's none of this "well here's something we're going to try", he straight in with "we cross over to Joe who's getting a hedgehog shoved up his bum". He's presenting it with confidence and, while it's not perfect with the lack of any real sketches and no proper monologue, I think it's the best state I've seen the show in. Dermot might've been a competent presenter but Bradley's eccentricity and enthusiasm is giving it the liveliness the show needs. As much as I like Jason Manford, he's far too grounded and "normal" to keep this up next week.
