They are making a mistake, with this disaster fresh in everyone's mind, they should take the opportunity to change the timings of the show till 10:30 for at least the rest of the week.

The U.S talk shows do quite well with this kind of thing, as it's unfortunately a regular occurance. Whenever i've seen it, it's usually just a short serious statement from the presenter, then it cuts to break before the monologue.
The one that i always remember being this one:
The monologue will make for an interesting watch.

A slightly different kind of show, but The Last Leg has also always done very well with dealing with this sort of thing, as it's sadly had to on quite a few occasions already.

Tragic as they were, yesterday's events are not an ongoing story. I think the right (and British) thing to do is go back to business as usual/scheduled, even if that business is hammering nails into the coffin of light entertainment.

Just in the same way as The Chase and Pointless are back today, so is The Nightly Show, and based on the current scheduling policy, there is no reason not to.
ITV have decided to air the news at 10:30 unless it's a 'change to the schedule' day, and that's what is happening. Whether that is the right decision is something different that's already been debated at length.
Regarding the monologue, they haven't always been topical or lengthy, as as TNS is a constantly evolving format, it won't be obvious if they skip it.

Dermot confirmed what we assumed tonight - that he'll be hosting four shows this week (due to last night's cancellation), with Gordon Ramsay hosting from Monday as planned.
