After a slow start introducing the characters, it was a decent enough episode to deserve staying in the 2100 slot.

I'll be amazed if ITV stick with Lethal Weapon in that slot for it's entire 16 week run. I presume they'll split it into 2 x 8 episode runs.
Edit: It's 18 weeks. 2 x 9 ?

For week one I thought it was a pretty good show with room for improvements.
Martin Clunes is a good actor but was not a good guest. The audience games added no value to the show. Why did the voice judges turn up as not all of them spoke.
The sketches with David Walliams were good and I hope that these stay.
I am sure over the next few weeks it will improve.

Something that they did fix by the last episode was previewing the guests before the monologue and showing them on the balcony meaning that you didn't get the edit from them up on the balcony to the first guest coming out.
There's room for improvement and I'm sure things will be ironed out. I loved the honesty of John Bishop comparing himself to Will.I.Am accidentally pressing the button for a contestant when he excepted the gig to appear for a week after seeing the reaction after week one.

I do hope ITV stick with Lethal Weapon, I thought it was fantastic. I have a feeling if it doesn't rate as well as they want it will either end up after the late news at 11.10ish or end up on ITV2. I guess splitting it into 2 x 8 weeks runs would be sensible considering most itv dramas are 6 or 8 weeks long.
As for the nightly show, anyone going to watch the Sunday night show at 10.20pm which includes the best bits for the week? I wonder how this will rate and how soon it will be dropped. They could get away with dropping that with little fuss. Not so much the main weekday shows.
EDIT actually Square Eyes your right it is 18 weeks so yes probabaly 2 x9 weeks otherwise it will be on every week until end of June. Is the slot needed for anything else that normally airs in this time slot?

That's the big problem on a show like this a lot of weight is carried on the host's shoulders. Dislike the host and you may not tune in. It's not like HIGNFY who have Paul & Ian as regulars and a guest to hold
It together or Saturday Night Live where people tune in mainly for the sketches rather than the guest host.

John Bishop not doing an opening monologue tonight...
John Bishop is the best hope they've got in the early weeks.
