The US networks don't do cheap filler. If they were ever in that position, affiliates would just schedule syndicated programmes, which would have a knock-on affect on the amount of money paid to the networks.

Did Rob Brydon just make a cheap pop at David for being on the telly to much

Can't help but feel Rob would have been a better first week host than David.

Thank goodness there stop with the cutting into the break crap.

He's a vastly underused talent, in my opinion.

Thought Brydon and Walliams worked well together, but the show struggled to recover from the awful opening gags.

As almost everybody else has already said, seems a very odd decision to try out the show in such a high-profile (and disruptive) slot.

I gave it a go tonight, but the opening jokes are really lazy. The punchlines are so obvious, they barely raise a smile.

Brydon seemed like a decent guest (and I like him) but he quickly pulled out his same old Ronnie Corbett and Michael Caine impersonations. Hardly fresh new humour.

Switched over to a 1986 episode of Yes, Prime Minister on Yesterday - which was far funnier.
