Ouch- isn't that less than the News At Ten normally gets?

Ouch. Probably a combination of poor lead in from PTTW (1.98m) and those who didn't bother coming back after the first night. I thought it was a little better last night. It'll be interesting to see how much ITV hold their nerve. Benidorm should give a few viewers tonight, especially as there's football on the other side - and the potential of no news at ten on either channel.

It affected the news last night, which was down to 912k.

They need some new Young presenters, Joel dermmot, rick Edwards, Heydon Prowse and Joylon Rubinstein. Clara amfo. New fresh people who could do it for a 8 week run and put the effort in for it to succeed. The old talent don't care if it works or not as they are gone by Friday. They can blAme the format or editorial.

Obviously Broadchurch helped on Monday night's ratings.

ITV will see it as needing the big talent to draw viewers in in the first place. If they had launched it at 10.40, out of the glare of the spotlight and fuss over NAT then it could have a relative unknown (like Corden) and allowed to build up a decent following - then maybe move it to a better slot.

It worked for TV Burp...when they eventually realised!

I'm more alarmed at the last sentence of your post. 912,000 for the News? Probably even fewer for the Regional News I'd have thought.

I think it'll pick up tonight and tomorrow, but agreed it's depdendent on the lead in's and out of all the shows this week Broadchurch is the strongest, Benidorm should give it a boost too.

If the ratings say were to remain this low after a few weeks, surely ITV cannot justify keeping this at 10pm...?

It's almost like when NBC tried putting Jay Leno on before the news... and we know what happened there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we've already had our equivalent of the Late Night shows with the 5pm chat shows.

Not really. Apart from being chatshows and on daily they're completely different beasts. Apples & Oranges.

Oh dear looks like this could be carnage.

As usual ITV failing to learn the lessons from their own history. It will be a long 8 weeks on this form.

Some very odd scheduling as well with PTTW.

I notice that ITV is repeating the show at 12.15am (presumably to enhance the viewing figures as figures for both origination and narrative repeat can be combined), but STV isn't. Wonder how much this might affect the overall ratings?
