Probably one of the better recreations of the US late night chat show format, although I'd prefer a permanent presenter instead of the guest presenters every week.
If you look at Corden or Kimmel, they're masters of the monologue, Walliams just about pulled it off, but I fear someone without a comedic background may not pull off the delivery of the gags.
There not even adverts going into the news. Lets get something striaght here? If there is NO adverts ITV isnt making money so why has it moved the news? to get more viewers to prove what?
As mentioned, there were five sponsor stings for Amazon during the half hour, so it wasn't advert free. You're not going to be able to get plugs for icelolly.com in the news, either.
The best bit, which was spontaneous was when that strange bloke won the holiday (courtesy of icelolly.co.uk of course) and started walking onto the stage, with David having to turn him away.
That bit was bizarre, and I don't know what the point of giving away a holiday was if we didn't even get to know the guy's name. Presumably it was to keep the audience excited, but they can do that off air. Anyway, apart from that, MEH.

I bet Andy Collins was the warm up host. He likes to do silly competitions & skits like that during his warm up.
I'm told it from went from 3.76m at 10pm to 2.16m by 10.30pm.
I stuck it out until Martin Clunes came on, then I was bored to be honest. I think had Nina Conti been the first guest I might have watched a bit longer.
I also think the stage is far too big for the show, and the desk set too far back from the audience.
I suspect it'll be one of those shows that people tune into if there's a guest they are interested in. They're not listing the guests on the EPG which doesn't help.
Wasn't keen on Walliams. He's alright as an interviewer, but he's not a natural when it comes to the monologues. On top of which, seeing him opt for the "dressing up as a lady and putting on a funny voice" throughout the show got tired very quickly. I much preferred his drier persona when he hosted Blankety Blank.
I can't pass full judgment after the first day. I loved TLLS with Craig Ferguson but that took a long time to find its feet.
I am against News At Ten being moved yet again however I thought the show was OK. Not amazing but OK. Some of it was funny but the actual interviews quite boring. Be interesting to see how it does over the 8 weeks.
in terms of no proper adverts just trailers, im guessing maybe as its a new show they want to see how it does before they sell advert space? Advertisers would not be happy if it didn't get the ratings they want.

I think there need someone like Paul o'grady or Craig f, or the radio and can about stuff etc. I also think its need a longer slot like 45mins. Then you can have straight for 15mins break then interview then etc. Im surprised no one thought about having Johnathan ross on twice a week.
I am wondering if having a different host each week is going to be this show's downfall. The American talk shows are really intrinsically linked to the host - James Corden's show is nothing like Craig Ferguson's, similarly Jimmy Fallon's (on Late Night, not the Tonight Show) was nothing like Conan O'Brien's.
I also hope they don't run out of decent guests after show three! I was a bit worried when I looked on Wikipedia and saw that the Chuckle Brothers were going to be amongst the first guests…
I hope it improves but I think it already has an identity crisis. It wants to draw comparisons with the US talk shows but at the same time appeal to an ITV demographic and so it feels like it lacks any edge for 10pm at night. It's audience will very much depend on what was on before it and who is on it. Did it get trailed much during the 9pm hour ?
Play to the Whistle as lead in tonight which is never a big pull, and by the end of the week a US import which never seem to do well on ITV. It's got an uphill battle.
Don't know why people are suggesting Bradley Walsh & Paul O'Grady - good at what they do but very old school light entertainment names and wrong for this sort of show.
