So you'd prefer the ITV News at Ten to continue flopping and being an irrelevance at 10 instead.

If Trump did press the red button, people would be hearing it from Huw Edwards as you well know.

If that is truly the case then ITV should just scrap nat and evening news and have straight news at 20.30 with corrie at 8pm freeing up the 9 and 10pm slots for other stuff... Razz Rolling Eyes Wink

The ratings gap had narrowed to just 1m viewers at the time this was confirmed, though admittedly that was off the back of I'm a Celebrity which gives it the best lead in of the year.

(Trickier to get regular overnights for the news now compared to previously - I just ventured into the Digital Spy ratings thread and ventured right back out again!)

Hope it flops out of the gate at 10pm so the switch to the more suitable post-news slot is made sooner rather than later. Well, either that or the news is forced to 10pm after Trump accidently presses the big red button when trying to send a tweet.

We're all hoping for nuclear war to keep News at Ten.

Yep, we are. I mean, it is absolutely stupid to have a 'chat show' in place of news at ten as news at ten has been a tradition for years. Put the show at 10:40, right after the late regional news

I'd say it's now more of a tradition to move News at Ten from ten...

A tradition that doesn't rate well enough to justify the amount of money spent on it.

Will rate even less well at 10.30 and I'm in no doubt the Nightly Show won't rate well enough to justify the money spent on it either.

The other reason is there want lots of people going into News at 10.30, but lets be fair here I cant see the people who might watch this chat show waiting to watch the news?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, replace both the Evening News and NaT with shorter bulletins and introduce a new "ITV News Tonight" at 8pm.

It's ridiculous that - given ITV News will always play second fiddle to BBC News - it has two flagship news programmes clogging up the schedule, whereas 20 years ago it only had one. Not only that, but they go directly head to head with BBC News programming.

Haven't you considered that maybe people will want to actually watch this chat show?
