ITV/ITV1 Hearts Idents

Just noticed something that I've never noticed before, but you lot might have, but I'll share it anyway...

If you notice, on the 'ITV' Hearts Idents, the region name appeared before the logo, square box & itv logo.

But on the 'ITV1' hearts idents (the live action ones that were only seen in certain regions for a couple of weeks this way), all the graphics appear at the same time.

Thats all!

Plus, you may say the Hearts have been with us a long time, but really they have evolved over that time.
Doesn't it seem ages ago, since we saw the fairground/removals van etc in the GMG North regions, not since last Jan/Feb!
They had different music back then, different end caption, so only the hearts background is really the same

Hmmmm, not long till the new idents though!

Mr Videowall or whatever you're called now, what was that you were saying in the chatroom the other night about the new ITV1 idents? Come on, tell us everything you know!

I think if I recall rightly, the live action hearts idents disappeared following the ITV.com 'glowing' box being added to the idents.

Since that change, I think I have since seen the 'Welding' ident used once by Anglia.

In recent days, I have seen the old ITV2 (before it's recent redesign), and the ITV Sport Channel logos added to the Anglia version of the hearts ident, whenever either channels are mentioned by the announcer.

Why did GMG remove the live action animations from the idents? Carlton still have theirs despite having itv.com added.

Also, Mr. Videowall said on the chat room that all GMG regions are to get new idents from early 2002, including LWT. However, LWT told Mr. Vid that if they are not satisfied with the new ITV1 GMG Generic, then they will use new videowall idents instead.

UTV, and Scottish and Grampian are expected to keep their current identity.

No one knows what Carlton is doing though. It might be that they have new idents planned, or they might keep their current ones, but with modifications e.g. since from ITV press releases we can guess that ITV is to scrap 'TV from the heart' slogan, they may replace the heart in the animations at the start with ther Carlton star.

Maybe to give them more time to talk over the idents - they've gone so far as to edit the lines version without the 'sting' at the start (although the original version is still available - yes?)

Or maybe the public didn't like the live action clips? Can you imagine someone stopping you in the street asking what your opinion was on such-and-such an ident!

I can understand Meridian/Anglia dropping them for the introduction of itv.com, no need to make more work for yourself when new idents were (probably) always planned for the new year.

Yeah, basically LWT told me that GMG were getting new idents, however as nothing has been finalised, if LWT reject the new generic idents (as they did with 'TV From the Heart of Life'), new idents will be created, keeping the videowall theme.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO I like this new purple look LWT the Videowall is an original idea but is to bright & wierd looking with toooo many flashy colours. LWT must be using it though as there is no point in the new production caption

What I mean is it just doesn't work & looks dated now even though it is less than 2 years old. I have noticed that itv.com has replaced the ferris wheel. The new purple production caption looks good but having the LWT logoin just white doesn't look right to me as it has been Red, White & Blue near enought since the beginning

Could someone please send me all GMG production slides to personal message as I have lost all that were posted here & the original threads with these on seem tho have dissapeared or are so far back it would take ages to get them

Oh god I can't believe they're going down this road again, allowing Carlton & GMG Stations to have separate idents. They'll never have a uniform ITV1 if the 2 biggest players have completely different looks. Why can't they just do the lot at once, with a variation for each region.

Or even why don't they allow each region to do their own but with common elements in each? You know, same music or same positioning of logo, same font etc. Even Border's would be good seeing as they are now owned by GMG. I'll mock some up in a bit to show how it would work.
