Ok, so its official. Does anyone have information on when it was launched, and why it is under the Granada name?
Domain creation was November 2007. I imagine it uses the Granada banner because most of ITV's programming was produced by them and still is/can be credited to them..
It's been going for a few years. Originally it was called UK•TV from Granada, then Granada TV, and now they've bizarrely renamed it to ITV Granada. Confusing or what?
It's been mentioned on this forum before http://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/granada-tv-29970/ too, and that ITV logo seems to be a cross between the Granada TV logo they were using before and the current ITV logo. Looks horrible though.
Echoing what others have said, it first appeared 2-3 years ago as Granada TV, as thesethreescreengrabs show.
Would love to see what it looks like on screen. TV from the heart, I wonder?
No TV from the heart! Basically it is just a stock video of some blue swirls with the ITV Granada logo fading in. It shows repeats from most of the ITV line-up (including I'm a Celebrity) and there have been themed breakbumpers for the channel (most recently, for the royal wedding). As a channel its not bad, but as another user commented it is indeed Arial for the Granada part of the logo!
In Asia, I am not sure that the labels "ITV" or "Granada" are well known at all, either solitary or in any combination of the terms, except perhaps amongst UK expats.
The use of the suffix or prefix "UK" was most probably done to overcome the anonimity of the brand in overseas markets.
