May I point some INFOMATION

623058 is not my phone number, NOT an area code nether.

Thank you nok32uk. I’m dyslexic. Trying to give me a break "Although....he is 20..so...hmm" well amount of people with Dyslexic in 1 /10 in UK actually the rate is MUCH higher in Jails! SO much fro the education system! Yes I'm 20 have even seen writing from people like Walt Disney, Richard Branson (he's extremely bad), Robin Williams, none of them type because there writing are down the pan. I think is going down as fast a lead BALLON

On the point of what TVF I agree with him all ITV has came out with over the past through years is mindless rubbish with Clebs.

BUT in early 90's ITV lost the right to decide what was put on so maybe we should BLAME the independent body that controls itv programmer now, as there not done a good job.

I think you misunderstand slightly.

In the old days each ITV region was independent, and there was an ITV committee comprising representatives from each franchise, where the "network" schedule was effectively agreed. The larger ITV companies (Thames, Granada etc.) produced a lot of network material, the medium sized companies (TVS/Southern, Yorkshire etc.) produced some, and the smaller companies (Ulster, Channel, TSW/Westward) produced almost nothing for the network.

However, once independent production became more widespread, and ITV started to buy in shows from third party producers, and when the requirement for a more competitive and less cumbersome scheduling operation was required.

Thus after the 1992 Franchise round (when Thames, TVam, TVS and TSW lost their franchises) when Carlton and Meridian were appointed (and were planned to not produce shows themselves and instead were aiming to "publish" independent shows), an ITV Network Centre was created.

This was part of the ITV operation, and replaced the committee, allowing a smaller team to take decisions more quickly, and also eventually allow commissioning from independents directly rather than via an ITV franchise holder. As ITV consolidated throughout the 90s - with Granada, Carlton and United, then just Carlton and Granada, and finally just ITV plc (UTV, Channel and SMG excluded) - the ITV Network centre effectively became part of the ITV plc operation AIUI.

Not sure why you think the ITV Network Centre is an "independent body" though - in these days of ITV plc it is part of their operation, with a small amount of input from UTV, Scottish/Grampian and Channel as well I would imagine.

Ever since they went from the old system, ITV has got worse, in the old days, there seemed to be more competition between ITV regional holders to come up with some top quality shows, so that their show could be put onto the network, now it's not the same.

That's ITV's main problem now, they have an non-existent threat of competition from other production companies. In effect the only three "regionals" that provide the network with shows nowadays are Granada, Yorkshire & Scottish, or as they now like to be called Granada & SMG!

The channel worked a hell of a lot better pre-1993 and I think if they had continued as a networked channel run my regional operators ITV would have been a very unique station on the DTT line-up! I am sure the likes of ITV2, 3 & 4 would have still come into being with investment from the likes of Thames, LWT, Granada, Central & Yorkshire.

Sorry to digress with this......

Very rarely watch ITV, at least not during the day - but working from home I happened notice that the 1500 HRS regional news has been totally eviserated. Is it that this was a quid pro quo for the extension on the 1230 national/local programme up to 1 hour?

On the subject of ITV being worstest, I just wonder therfore what now forms the logical junction between the end of "daytime" and the start of "kids" at 1530?

And BTW, where has Puffins Pla(ic)e gone to?

In a nutshell, yes.

There is still regional weather at 3.29.

Will the weather stay there after the current sponsorship packages are re-let?

your tell me that A kid show in the channel islands is shown during the Lunchtime News, really ITV has gone to the wall, with this idea!
Maybe it should scarp Daytime and put up the Test Card instead like in olden days

It is actually quite a statement about

(a) ITV's commitment to pre-school children's programming

(b) ITV's understanding of what constitutes gravitas in a news broadcast

(c) A quality commitment to the managament of relations with what are (in effect) now affiliates, rather than fellow licencees.

Perhaps O Puffin esq., could do the City and financial news live from St Heier? Quite appropriate: "the price of paper fish... sponsored by an offshore bank!"
