There was a funny cock up on ITV1Wales the other day, when the announcement for Des & Mel was played before the news:

"Now on ITV1Wales, let's do it!" <cue news> Laughing

Could HTV theoritically decide that their presentation was now substandard and therefore take control and do it themselves from Wales?

That's odd, everyone else thinks it is.

They still THEORETICALLY could, yes, because the old transmission equipment at Culverhouse Cross hasn't yet been dismantled, to my knowledge.

HOWEVER, there's absolutely NO way they would, because their transmission has gone to LNN in London, which is half owned by Carlton, whilst they, themselves, are wholly owned by Carlton, so they wouldn't be ALLOWED to do so by the powers-that-be.

Seems you guys crossposted! Laughing

They don't take the London feed, even if their announcers do the continuity - that explains the pre-recording, and, if HTV re-hired their staff, they could go back to their own, live, annos.

ALL their playout comes from LNN, James. It's now been like that for some months.

Live news from Culverhouse Cross is now sent up the line to LNN to actually be played out to the transmitters from there.

As I understand it, announcements are recorded at Culverhouse Cross and sent to LNN to be played out. Of course it's anyone's guess how long this arrangement will last.

Don't forget, Viacom, Hallmark, or Haim Saban could yet scupper the Carlton-Granada merger - which would change everything, as the policies of any new owner would likely be different.

I don't see how they would scupper the merger. That's the last thing they'd want to do.

It'd be cheaper, wouldn't it?
