ITV Font

The new ITV font is now embedded in a PDF on ITV World Cup site. It is embedded, but as it has been shown with the Channel 4 font, it can be extracted.

How can you extract PDF fonts?

It's only an embedded subset, so only the letters and numbers used in the Wallchart will be accessable.

This is illegal, and shouldnt be discussed here...

Does that statement apply when you do it?

interesting to see ITV has gone for ITV / BBC on their chart whilst the beeb has BBC TV & 5 Live or "Live on 5 Live"

people will do their own thing, but talking about it could land the forum in legal trouble.

If people want the font that badly, they'll get it, even if it means making up their own copy. Browse some Free Font sites and you'll find replica fonts from films, TV programmes and more.

ITV should have thought of that when they commissioned the font!

Grey area really - they've released the font embedded with no encryption or security surrounding it, therefore anyone who downloads the PDF can extract the font file. In the same way as accessing someone else's insecure wireless connection is currently in a grey area, if they don't secure the font better people can extract it quite legally.

Using the font without authorisation is the illegal matter.

Why do people want this font so badly? ITV pay probably lots of money for the font company to produce this font to give the channel some individuality and specialty. People who try to rip this font are basically ripping off ITV and doing this illegally.

If you really want to get the font, you would ask your contacts at ITV.

Channel 4 weren't planning to release their font until some fool ripped off their fonts from the pdf as they forgot to subset it.

However, if anyone can find a More4 pdf that has the full character set it will be appreciated.

It's unbelivable just how many PDF's out there are insecure!, it's so easily nickable too, even an idiot like me can do it!

How?! If discussing how to extract fonts is legal...
