ITV Interest in Endemol-anti competitive?

According to broadcast itv are interested in buying Endemol from telefonica. Surely this would harm competition and make it more likely for itv to secure comissions etc. Not to mention that sky also have a large share in itv...

Your suggestion pre-supposes that no one other than Endomol has the ability to create, produce and sell a successful format.

Their current portfolio may include some big ticket entertainment, but UK production is by no means a one horse race.

It is anti-competitive - but that doesn't seem to be an issue with regulators when it comes to TV at least!

But by the time ITV had BB (say in 2010 once the C4 contract ends) then everyone would be sick of it. There are some who are fed up of it already.

Could this then mean the likes of BB and DOND be made as granada productions like countdown etc, as an itv production for 4, bbc etc probs wouldnt work..

Im sure if ITV do buy them they would have to use the 'Granada Productions' tag. I'm sure the Beeb would not approve of 'ITV Productions'.
