That was all a last minute thing in order to get ITV3 on Sky; ITV bought out Sky's share of Granada Sky Broadcasting.

Perhaps the scenario here does have some similarities, as ITV Encore's move to on demand is as a result of Sky & ITV's collaboration over the EPG 123 slot coming to an end.

Looks like it, although there is one difference; ITV and Sky have at least acknowledged the closure in advance rather than ITV close the channel and pointing the finger to Sky soon after as what happened in 2004.

Let's hope that notepad ends up in the cupboard soon.

No, as I read somewhere else, ITV Be is a public service, as it means all that rubbish stuff won’t appear on ITV’s 1 to 4

By fluke I happene to hop by ITV Encore then, unsurprisingly the promos are mostly for ITV3, however they are referencing its Sky channel number at the end of the promo. Can’t say I’ve heard that before.

I think the format of ITV Encore will work online unlike BBC Three which turned out to be a big mistake!

BBC Three's online move was unprecedented in the television industry. While it was done far too early, I don't think it is a mistake by any means. They have continually targeted their previous strengths as a linear channel while also pushing short-form content, which is doing well for the BBC.

When all is said and done, Encore's new box-set model can retain a niche.

However looking at the figures it was reported that BBC Three saw a 20% drop in the youth audience watching their content when they moved online.

Regardless, BBC Three is still knocking it out of the park with its content, some of which has been damn good for an online-only service. Also, it sets a precedent for future linear TV services to transition in the future.

What is Encore showing right now on Sky? NOW TV has a generic ITV slide stating 'Programme not available on this platform'...

Nothing to exciting about this closedown. Not even a continuity, just this ITV Encore slide which appeared after a few adverts promoting ITV 3. This is what is being broadcasted on Sky TV.

Ahh. Thanks for sharing the screencap.

They saved continuity for the last junction, where the announcer acknowledged the closure. At least a goodbye was given.
