Yes - but providing Sky owns the EPG slot they are free to move one of their own services to 123 when Encore closes.

Sky Two and Pick are probably the strongest contenders, unless it's seen as an opportunity to launch Sky Bravo with a prominent slot.

I think if Sky were going to launch anything resembling Bravo we would have seen it already.

Also, I thought it was ridiculous they were repeating things like Heartbeat and Peak Practice during the day, which completely diluted the brand, those were so obviously ITV3 fare. It was just broadcasting for the sake of broadcasting. They'd have been better off not showing anything than showing that. It just meant the audience didn't have a clue what the point of the channel was.

Didn't they originally just give daytime hours a generic brand like The Encore Hour and didb't publicise what they showed?

During it's lifetime then they commissioned 3 series for ITV Encore :

The Frankenstein Chronicles (2nd season currently airing)
Harlots (2nd season commissioned not yet aired)
Houdini & Doyle (1 season not recommissioned)

Of these, I think that only Houdini & Doyle got a showing on mainstream ITV for the first episode. Obviously some co-productions here, but they seem too niche to get an airing on mainstream ITV and the audience was very small on Encore.

Apparently ITV Encore had the early Heartbeat series, ITV3 got the newer ones. Obviously the newer ones were deemed to naff for Encore.

It was plainly a way for Sky to sell subscriptions by being able to use well known British drama, as Sky's own material is thin on the ground in that area, and that may tap into a new customer base not interested in football or US serials.

The daytime schedule wasobviously filler and off brand, but a lot of channels are like that, many seem to live for about 2 hours a night. ITV2 is a bit like that now, and even BBC Three showed all kinds of random stuff before 9pm.

Further to how Sky might re-use 123 on the EPG... over on Virgin they have Sky Two, Sky Arts and Pick on 121, 122 and 123 so its not too much of a stretch to predict that they might go for the same ordering for 121, 122 and 123 on Sky.

Sky Sports Mix stands out like a sore thumb on 121 and could move to the sports genre on 400 where it would be much more appropriate.

Why does Mix even still exist? Main Event does the same thing.

Not really.. Sky Sports Mix is available for all Sky subscribers and show a restricted number of events (it has been created as a "free" channel), while Sky Sports Main Event shows a mixture of Sky Sports premium contents

Sky Sports Main Event is there to show the most important live event so theoretically most people will only have to go to channel 401 (or 501 on Virgin) to find what they want to watch.

But plenty will go elsewhere, of course. Sky Sports Mix has also on some occasions been an "overspill" football channel, usually for the non-Anglosphere (and thus eternally damned according to Sky's basic political foundation) leagues they have the rights to, now they have artificially restricted the showing of two non-PL matches at the same time on their main channels (apart from via the red button).

Not sure they would, they only just moved it out of the 400s and they would have to shuffle non-Sky channels around if they wanted it anywhere near their others.

Mix is very much its own thing, it sometimes simulcasts other Sky Sports channels but not in the same way Main Event does. Main Event gets tons of stuff that you won't see on Mix.

Sky Sports Mix is basically a mixture between a shop window and dumping ground.

Despite how it was originally billed, Main Event has occasionally ended up showing unique programming - on Thursday last, it showed Northern Ireland v Switzerland, while Mix showed Croatia v Greece and Football showed Scotland v Holland.
