They are truly hideous - so hideous many shows still seem to use the previous versions.
Re: the ECPs - considering the layout I do hope they actually use them primarily for promos. If they just end up being used for menus the credits should really take up more room.

Saddeningly the death of the blue bars has not affected those truly disgusting 'Previously' and 'Next time' straps that curse all ITV dramas.

Points of View calls. Or failing that, the Daily Mail.
I wouldn't stoop as low as the Daily Mail , because a) I'm not a racist, fascist, anarchoristic, far-right cretin from the Dawn of Time and b) I was actually praising the BBC for making something that wasn't as ugly as ITV's,

If the Mail really are racist, how come they were the paper which named Stephen Lawrence's killers and challenged them to sue if they'd got it wrong?

No, but it puts a smile on your face.

Whats equally as bad is when they bundle them into the ECP.

Are you kidding? The BBC make producers generate large fonts on the credits only to get squashed into a square. ITV's isn't not squashing, and they are able to play a promo on top without any problem, and has a show relevant background.

A few points...
1. Are these only to be used in primetime as This Morning - the live daily daytime programme still has the old blue bar style
2. Are they using them for promotions, or just to overlay the next, later.
3. At least they haven't gone fully american where by there is always a promo, and you see/hear nothing of the programme.

ITV's credits (in the bottom 1/6th of the screen) are so small you either have to be within 2 feet of the screen or be lucky enough to own a 40"+ screen to view them.
The "relevant background" is normally shown briefly at the end of the credit sequence, after they have got rid of the
ENORMOUSLY LARGE MENU
for what was on "next" (that being 3 hours ago because you recorded the programme to avoid the adverts).
Pointless! When will they learn?

1) As far as their (and most broadcasters) concerned as long as the production crew member/actor/actress name is shown on screen then it's fine. Most people don't read credits, a lot of people use the internet to find out information if they need it. Some broadcasters don't even show them, they just get snipped off at the final scene and either go to adverts or show a promo; some even overlay the ECP credits over the final scene, very common in comedies or live programmes.
2) I admit the large menu is very badly designed and looks powerpoint-y, they should follow Lee's example:

I have no idea why they have never thought of that. It's still an improvement, it allows them more space to show a trailer or to show a menu, the previous design was very restrictive because you had to think about keeping it within the safe areas, and had a pint sized video box. Although the US ECPs tend to have a double line rather than ITV's single line.
