Wow! Surprisingly, I like UTV's better than the network's! STV has the best one, though.

I'm sorry if my expression of horror at UTV using Arial on their new style ECP hasn't gone down well in this thread, but it's how I feel about it. Like many things UTV have done in the past few years, the intention is great but the execution is disappointing.

Surely UTV can at least whip out and use DIN instead of Arial Black? Come off it UTV

Anyone know how the ITV2 repeats have been handling these?

It would be around a fifth I guess.

For lots of graphics I guess they could either have a couple of frames full screen before switching to the ECP (or after), or even do some scrolling thing and then just air that in the bottom - though you'd have to be quite quick to read it!

Indeed, a scrolling idea may work though, although the first two frames large is another idea, though the transition between full screen and the bar would look difficult.

Scrolling would kill any digital bandwidth leftover, esp with ITV compression rates, I wouldn't be surprised if it killed the full image as well.

For an example of how bottom credits *could* be done...*better*... see Family Guy on Fox... now that's fast, yet readable...

Which explains why they're displayed in the way they are and ITV are obviously making more of the promotion space than credits...typical.

At the end of tonights Coronation St. we got to see the ECP with a preview of programme in it, it was for ITV4. The same style curvy window was there with the programme preview inside, and then the rest was transparent black with the ITV4 logo. Looked very nice.

When (if) stv create a new ECP, I can imagine (hope) it would look a little something like this:

Indeed it did, thus why I put as a point in the mocks section do you think a different colour scheme would work for ITV1, and if so, what? Aren't all the colours used even orange for play and purple for mobile are used up.

Maybe they could do what STV do/did and use the an ident image as a background.

Nice new credits for The Bill tonight. Basically just the titles as a background:

Do you think as it was only recorded last night that we will see the new style credits on the pride of britain awards? I personally think that these will be too hard to feature.

Do you think they could get around programmes like this by reverting the process so that the credits take up the screen and any promotions that they want to make appear in the lower fifth?

Obviously the only promotions at this time of night are usually only for other channels, or websites associated, I don't often see a thing for the news, though it would be a way to keep viewers if the coming up was added at the end of the programme.
