Duel started off at around 2m and grew a steady audience. Given the right promotion, the audiences could continue to grow and this could be a real hit, and an eventual successor of Millionaire because that won't last forever.

A little OT, but it was nice to see the Thames skyline ident shown on BBC Four this evening in front of 'Minder' - part of the Verity Lambert season.

BTW, I read today that the live stages of Britain's Got Talent will be stripped over a week again at the end of May - it's just the audition stages which are going out in the weekly slot.

So back to the question raised earlier in the year, as to how these kind of live midweek reality shows will be accommodated. BGT needs 90 minutes really for the acts and results but it seems a bit late to go to a results show at 10:35pm.

Incidentally, I note that the Friday 10pm slot is to be used to show the first half of a film from April 18th, split around the 11pm news.

That really is pointless. If by creating this 10pm slot they have nothing to put in it, they may as well put out News at Ten all week, and start the film in full at 10:35pm.

Last year, there were only three live shows, with the fourth and fifth being the final and the final results respectively. This year, we have 4 live shows (Monday-Thursday) then the final on the Friday. This suggests that with the extra live show, they may be having less performances in the semi finals meaning they can all go out for 1 hour across the week, perhaps with a 90 minute-2 hour show on the Friday. There were 8 in 3 semi finals- 24 overall. We could have 6 in 4 semi finals- still 24 acts meaning 9.00pm-9.45pm is the performances, 9.45pm-10.00pm being the results. Either that or maybe the results will be on after the news?

Could simply be 8.30-10pm, with Corrie moving on Monday and perhaps Friday too to the 8pm slot on Tue, Wed or Thu.

Yes week commencing 26th May is what's been rumoured for the BGT live shows. Well the Monday is a Bank Holiday so News at Ten wouldnt be on that night. The rest of the week they could do BGT from 8pm-9pm with the result at 9.30pm and then News At Ten. They could drop The Bill that week. Or they could have BGT at 9pm-10pm with the results after the news. Friday also wouldnt be a problem as could just use 9pm-11pm for BGT with the news at 11pm.

I totally agree with you about the news on a Friday - as you say they might just as well show the news at 10pm on a Friday, regardless of whether it is branded as News At Ten or simply ITV News. I guess though later in the year they may use the 9pm-11pm slots to show a 2 hour drama repeat like A Touch of Frost or Midsomer Murders. All depends if they have anything lined up for the 9pm slot.

I'm not liking these 1 hour length Taggart, you need the extra 30-60mins to get the full force.

I don't understand why ITV insist on having all star game shows now, there was once a time when they only had celebrities for the christmas shows.

I think Honest has potential and if Trial and Retribution returns, it needs two part stories over one week e.g. Wednesday and Thursdays at 9-10pm. I think it is clear Rock Rivals will be axed, following the end of its current ru.
