Seems pretty odd to me but may be worth a look!!
Slightly OT but there's a great Dancing With The Stars trailer on the ABC site for the new series. I liked the BBC's "look for the glitterball" one but for all out gloss and design, the ABC one is great. I like the way the title/logo is incorporated into it. The sort of promo ITV should do for Dancing On Ice!

Rumour has it News at Ten is due for the chop. If it is, ITV's reputation will get another kick. If I were at ITV, my main focusses for ITV1 would now be:
1) Experimenting with ad breaks - accelerated flow straight from one programme to the next.
2) Completely overhaul the branding - make it big budget, glossy and have an array of idents for all occasions
3) Continue to change the skew of the channel with programming like Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach that bring in younger audiences.
4) Commission longer runs of bankers like Kingdom and any new hits like The Fixer of 12+ episodes.
That's all I can think of really, ITV1's image won't turn around overnight.

As I said elsewhere, changing the time the late news yet again won't do ITV any favours at all - leave it where it is for now.
As for the points you rise pad - completely agree with number 1 - and it can certainly be done in prime time with most programming, certainly all hour long programmes.
The branding isn't a priority IMO - but I think they should get the new ECP out across programmes - especially as a switch to "accelerated flow" means playing out a trailer over the credits would be even more important.
In the short term a revamped trailer design would be more of a priority than the idents - and at a fraction of the cost. This is probably one of the longest running ITV trailer styles - in the past they've been changed most years.
As for number 3 - I don't really agree, not in prime-time anyway. ITV have got to worry less about the viewers they haven't got and more about the viewers they have got. Use ITV2 and late-night ITV1 if they want to start attracting a younger audience, where programmes can establish themselves out of the firing line and if successful transfer to ITV1 prime-time at a later date.
Longer runs of established series - definately a yes, but it's a fine balance between giving a show a longer run and milking it. With The Fixer for example, I'm not sure it could sustain a 12 episode series - though perhaps split into two series of six to be shown within a year could be an alternative.
With the possible exception of Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach I'm not sure any of the new ITV commissions so far could be turned into lengthy series of 16-24 episodes, 8 - 10 is probably the limit.
ITV definately need to be finding one or two new series to fill such a lengthy slot though - and if they could get one programme to fill one of the drama slots for half a year that would benefit their drama output as a whole too, where efforts can be then concentrated on the other slots.
There are lots that still needs changing - weekends are beginning to look quite vulnerable once Dancing on Ice and Ant and Dec finish, and Britain's Got Talent alone isn't going to be enough to protect them.
My biggest disappointment with the new schedule so far though is they don't seem to have bothered with anything specific at all for the post-News at Ten slots, and that's not helping them be competitive in the 10pm slot either.
ITV could do alot worse than trialling a daily chat-show from Mon-Thu in the 10.35pm slot - even if it's using guest presenters doing a week each for 6-8 weeks or something. Hopefully then at the end of it they'd either be able to bring it back with a permanent host or at least continue with the format of guest hosts each week.

GAME For A Laugh star Jeremy Beadle is to be the subject of an unusual television tribute – in a night full of his shows.
ITV bosses always wanted the much-loved presenter to do An Audience With Jeremy Beadle, in which he would answer questions from a celebrity audience.
But his death last month, at the age of 59, put paid to their plans.
So in a twist which would have raised a smile with the funnyman, producers are to go ahead with An Audience WITHOUT Jeremy Beadle.
The show will feature friends and family taking turns on stage to tell anecdotes and introduce clips from his TV career.
And as well as a string of celebrities, some of the unwitting victims of his pranks will be there to talk through their moments of shame.
As a mark of the networkís appreciation of his work, ITV will clear its schedules for the Jeremy Beadle Night, with some of his most famous shows repeated on ITV1 and its three digital channels.
An ITV source said: ìJeremy was one of the best-loved people on the channel, producing some of the biggest hits in ITVís history.
ìPeople have been talking about something really special to honour his remarkable life.
ìThis seems a fitting tribute.
ìIt will be brilliant Saturday night entertainment ñ which is what Jeremy was master of.
ìHe was responsible for so many great TV moments ñ there is enough material to fill a whole schedule.
ìSome of the pranks on Beadleís About and Game For A Laugh have never been surpassed and there is a huge demand to see them again.î

Yeah, I don't believe that at all, unless they originally had plans for his 60th birthday. I can't help but think this is just typical Daily Star spewing up ideas.
I don't think it's a bad idea but I reckon it would be an ITV3 thing really.

I noticed ITV cocked up the ECP on the credits of Dancing on Ice tonight. The music / announcer not knowing when to play / speak.
The slide came up advertising the DVD with just the picture and no writing saying 'DVD out now' or something similar. Followed by a blank one, which was meant to say 'Lewis - next'.
They know how to ruin the atmostphere of a live show final.

Was that on it all morning then. It would have been better done as an overlay really so it appeared when you turned to the channel, but then vanished after 20-30 seconds or so.
