How the **** did Bionic Woman on ITV2 get 2.2m viewers last night - a show already axed and pretty much a critical flop too.

I'd imagine they'd be mixed emotions at ITV about that - especially considering the ratings of most of their new programming in recent weeks.

Its not been axed yet - the jury is still out in the US! But its future does look bleak unless foreign TV companies give the money (i.e. Baywatch style) - but it would have to be a real big hit in foreign territories for this to happen again!

Indeed and Channel 4 only managed 0.7m in the same 9pm slot which means the ended up in 6th place.

I can't seem to post anywhere here now without someone bringing up C4!

All I was doing was expressing my surprise was it got such a huge figure, record figures in fact, when ITV2 have been screening "better" US imports such as Supernatural and Entourage, and indeed American Idol, which only get around a quarter of that figure - and indeed pointing out the irony of ITV2 getting such a surprise hit (I doubt anyone expected it would produce record figures) when ITV1 drama, with the exception of The Fixer, has been struggling so much in recent weeks.

And as far as I'm aware, the axe has well and truly fallen - it was one of the first casualties of the writer's strike back in November.

Does ITV2 going 24 hours mean the scrapping of ITV2 Nightscreen or does that count as programming?

Well, with respect, as you're the most prolific poster on this forum - with an opinion on most things and a Channel 4 bias to boot - it's little wonder it gets chucked back to you a bit.

It was the way you did that I found a little objectionable.

I remember the 70s show fondly, and was looking forward to this modern treatment of it. Couple that with my curiosity and genuine pleasure seeing a young British actor doing so well in the states (clearly a feeling shared by a million others) and its not *that* unexpected it was a success. I've been looking forward to it for ages.

If you insist on taking the dry approach to television and can only see it in terms of "shoring up slots" and "lead ins to the news" and other strategising then you're less likely to spot or enjoy little pockets of tv magic.

I'm sorry if I'm painting you in an inaccurate light, but that's how I see it.

At the moment though it seems like you only have to turn up at a US studio and say "I'm British" and they'll give you a leading role. They've even employed Piers Morgan!

Just watched The Fixer and have to agree Jez - that's more like it.

One thing which did annoy me though, as with Dexter really, were the Talk Talk sponsorship things, "sponsors of ITV Mystery Drama" - a category I don't consider either to fall into.

I agree The Fixer was excellent. I wondered that too about the sponsorship - The Fixer is hardly a murder mystery drama.

It proves that the will only get decent ratings if they show something good. Im not watching Rock Rivals this week as last week's opening episode was quite frankly ****!

Do you have a point or are you just making an observation?

Yes, its fashionable to have a British lead at the moment.

With the exception of Piers (hardly a leading anything), they're getting some good actors for the money, who could work there for the rest of their careers if they want.

It didn't do Patrick Stewart any harm.

Yeah it's all Ricky Gervais and Simon Cowell's fault.

Teleshopping from around 2.15am on the Tuesday morning, and Nightscreen from 5.15am, so Nightscreen is staying.

The ITV2 logo needs the black 'itv' treatment, it's as indistinguishable as it was on the old ITV1 logo in white.

I've been finding this more and more so. Infact with the coloured logo, and it now being faded the white letters are looking a bit yellow on my TV. Could be my TV though.

I'm still not a fan of a black lettering, as I feel it mucks up the branding -not that much I know, but thats me being picky.

I'd personally go for white ITV lettering, but adding a black outline to the lettering, the logo shape and the the numeral/wording, to tie everything together.
