ITV seeming to be forgetting that they used the CITV channel as a bargaining tool to get their ITV1 hours cut:

Quote:
"ITV's public service commitments apply only to ITV1 and therefore the programming on our dedicated children's channel is in addition to the required number of children's programming hours we broadcast on ITV1," said a spokeswoman.

"We apologise to those viewers who can no longer access the CiTV Channel. Like all broadcasters we must make decisions on how best to use the capacity available to us.

"We believe that the extension of the CiTV Channel's hours on the weekend via acquisition of this new space (on the SDN multiplex) is the most positive step available to us at this time, both for the future of the channel and the benefit of its wider audience."

It's pathetic, really. They can't even spare one episode when the footie's on.

It is pathetic I totally agree. It wouldnt have killed them to have less than 6 episodes that week, especially as Thursday is for regional programmes anyway so its not as if they havent anything else to put in that slot.

Thats why I can never see them ever dropping it down to 5 a week - losing the Sunday episode was the perfect opportunity.

What I don't quite understand is why they couldn't have maintained status quo for Wales - i.e, left ITV4 as a 12-hour channel there and kept CiTV on that space.

April will see a new plethora of 9pm dramas to replace the current set. Starting in April:

- Midnight Man (3-part with James Nesbitt)
- The Fixer
- Rock Rivals
- Pushing Daisies (US import for primetime)
- Lost in Austen (3-part series)

These shows will replace Moving Wallpaper / Echo Beach and The Palace primarily when they end in March in their Friday / Monday slots. I imagine Pushing Daisies might get Friday at 10pm. The Fixer could get Monday while Rock Rivals airs on Wednesday. As for Lost in Austen / Midnight Man, I think they will both occupy the 9pm (ish) drama slot on Sundays, with one of the two starting in the last week of April after the other. Trial & Retribution will air on Thursdays.

But how successful will this new wave be? Let's hope more than the current!

At least Saturday nights have Ant and Dec from later this month to smile about.

In March Al Murray ends, so I imagine 9pm will be filled with Benidorm and Teenage Kicks until 10pm. Then Pushing Daisies.

I wonder how many of the current 9pm dramas will return for a second series.

Pushing Daisies and Rock Rivals look good.

The Palace has already been axed apparently, which isn't surprising.

Im only surprised it has kept its 9pm slot. Despite it not doing well in the ratings ive still enjoyed it, havent had chance to watch last weeks episode yet though.

The Palace airs on Monday nights and an ITV spokesman said: “A decision will be made at the end of its run in four weeks.”

It's certainly good ITV aren't axing/moving it mid-run. I think Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach will get a series 2.

With it getting such poor viewing figures? Well im not sure how its doing now but I know there was a significant drop from episode 1 to episode 2.

I wonder if we might see the soaps move back to Sundays anytime soon - I dislike the double episodes of Corrie on Fridays, they can just about get away with 1 double episode a week (on Mondays) but 2 a week is overkill. The double episodes are set on the same day with a "cliffhanger" at the end of the first ep, which makes them full of filler storylines and dragged out even more.

Obviously paying back all those competition entrants means Ant and Dec can't afford to record a new promo for this series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

What are you on about? There's a promo airing at the moment. Confused

The promo airing at the moment was used for the last series of Saturday Night Takeaway. I think the series before that one had a different promo.

8.15 is a bit late, or have I got the time wrong?
