I guess with the old front caps and to a lesser extent the end caps each regions wanted a striking logo that people would remember - not just in their own region but also nationwide.

I think there's also an issue of fashion. Currently live action idents are very much in vogue. Given that most of the rest of the stuff on TV is live action, I'd argue that such idents will never stand out as much as graphical based ones.

Until the ITV1 logo fades in on the idents, most of them could quite easily be Tampax adverts to the casual viewer.

That made me laugh out loud!

But it really is so true.

I'm now wondering if ITV will publicise these changes, particularly the ones regarding Coronation Street, as I'm sure the average viewer won't know.

I can imagine it now, millions tuning in on Sunday and wanting to know exactly why they are seeing people ice skating instead of being bored to death by Jerry Morton and Dev Alahan, you know?

They could seize the opportunity to do an ad campaign for The Street.

I was tickled by that comment to. I also concur with pad that unfortunately it has more than a ring of truth about it.

Yes, but if you think the current set look like tampon adverts, remember the last set. A prime example of marketing cretins throwing together something in Movie Maker and then making up stupid excuses for it like a naughty schoolboy. That looked like an advertisement for a prophylactic.

Yes, I can see how the annoying kid with the wobbly tooth might have been a good advert for contraceptives.

Though you've got to admit that the ident featuring Kofi Annan patting his stomach was rather interesting.

Just seen the trailor for DUEL, it said coming soon.

Just incase anyone was wondering about the show.

Saw an extended trailer for Honest, it looks good now. I still think it mightn't do too well in the ratings though.

Yeah I saw a trailer for Duel yesterday - it must be starting a week on Saturday as they usually do trailers around 2 weeks before.

I guess it'll take the 8pm slot from Millionaire then.

Wild at Heart down in today's TV mags as starting "Next week" so I'm assuming Heartbeat is coming to an end on Sunday?

I'd also say that Heartbeat possibly has most to lose from the relaunch as if the Sunday night entertainment shows do work, will ITV want such a drama clogging up an hour of it's Sunday night schedule?
