So nice to see Alright on the night back again. Few points:

* There now seems to be BBC clips included, I take it BBC have given up on its own blooper shows.

* Nice to see some more STV clips including some from 5 years ago,

* There does seem to be a lack of Foreign clips, but still managed to pull a few more punches, I wonder how not alot have been broadcast, I bet there do another Episode full of Foreign TV.

I love Alright on the night, glad to see it back, but I just wish ITV would bring it back as a full set of shows, rather than just the odd one now and then. Maybe reducing eps to 30 mins and putting in on a friday between the two corrie eps.

Regarding your comment about using BBC shows, I thought Alright on the night always used shows from other networks, I know the show that was on BBC (sorry forgot its name, presented by Ann Robinson amongst others) only ever used BBC programmes.

Weren't they always one offs? I'm sure I remember the Denis Norden ones being numbered.

Yeah, a new episode always aired only every one or two years. It's never been a series.

maybe the bbc shows were produced by indies?

Apparently this pensioners programme isn't allowed to be shown in Scotland, ITV Border are apparently showing Cops With Cameras, and if I'm correct ITV1 Granada HD is available in the Border region, probably something to do with that, but it is a rather odd regional variation.

I guess though Sky viewers who know how could watch it if they really want to - or can Sky black out content completely based on location?

If you're watching a FTA channel (either from the EPG or Other Channels) with no card in your box I don't think Sky can do anything region-specific - that's tied to cards AIUI (and all they do is map the right FTA stream to your EPG for 101, 102, 103, 104 etc.) If the signal is not encrypted I don't think they can do much to blank it.

That's right the card maps the right region, none of ITV has been encrypted for some time now, on a FTA box you can select any ITV region like a normal channel.

I'm surprised there are so few blooper shows on TV these days.

A few years ago we had I'll be All Right on the Night, TV Nightmares with Steve Penk, It shouldn't happen to a..., TV' Naughtiest Blunders 27 plus Auntie's Bloopers/Outtake TV on BBC1.

I suppose the genre was worn out due to overkill.

It has always been produced as one-offs. The numbered ones were pretty much always once a year with specials (Kids from.., ITV50 special etc.), Laughter Files and repeats of past editions filling up the rest of the year. It just works that way and keeps the show feeling special.

I have noticed it has become very ITV-centric in the Griff years. It used to pretty much have a fair share of clips from different outlets, and the clips were always edited in a certain way to match Denis's sense of humour, something which the show sorely lacks now.

They have always used BBC clips throughout, but nowadays there is a noticeable lack of International clips which I think is a great shame as they're usually the ones which get the most laughs due to the unlikeliness of the British audience from ever seeing them before.

Half those shows shows were NEVER that funny, Im sure there used laughter tracks to try and make it seems funnier, and you have to wonder if half the clips used in those shows were true bloopers. Alright on the, is a still the original and best, it always makes you want more, there only been 35 episodes over the last 35 years! I do believe there could make another new episode with foreign content. The spin of Laughter file never come back did it? which is ashame....

I guess the reason there aren't many of these shows now is because of YouTube and the like. Griff's excuse that many stars don't like their bloopers being aired is probably due to the fact everyone's seen them go viral on YouTube and it's giving them a bad name*, plus the fact it was probably his cover-up for outtakes we've all seen before to be aired yet again.

I notice that Griff is less analytical leading into the clips than Denis was but I suppose that's because Denis used to have a hand in production, trawling through the archives himself looking for outtakes where as Griff is more just a compère reading autocue.

*with the exception of the bogstandard Martin Clunes outtakes.

Some of you may be interested that there seems that there is a confirmed date for the return of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

According to the ITV Be on TV website, it looks like it's Saturday 23rd February 2013 for a run of 7 shows. And there's a sneaky peek at their new (but very similar to the old) logo.

It'll be interesting to see how fresh the new series of takeaway will feel after a few years away, though looking at that logo (if that is the new one) it makes me think not much will be different, after so many years I feel a new look including set may be needed.

Didn't they change the logo in the later series to something that looked like a skyline, though I think the original was still used along side it.

Hopefully they'll update everything, including replacing the main Win the Ads game. It was tired towards the end and in need of resting before it went the same direction Noel's House Party did in it's latter years, and I suspect it's only really returning as both Red or Black and Push the Button didn't work out for Ant and Dec.

And I guess Little Ant and Dec are probably adults (or near enough) by now.
