Even when it isn't live it tends to be played out "as live" via the Millbank feed, which on this occasion appears to have caught the Met Office on the hop.
FWIW on ITV1 HD London we got the bars for the full duration of the breakdown, with a couple of very generic sounding apologies. From what I've read it sounds like SD managed to switch to the breakdown caption but HD stayed stuck on the bars.
Does that mean this weather should have been live?

That will be interesting since ST8, where 'This morning' is broadcast, isn't HD capable. I can't imagine for a moment that it is moving to another Southbank studio.
