Apparently this pensioners programme isn't allowed to be shown in Scotland, ITV Border are apparently showing Cops With Cameras, and if I'm correct ITV1 Granada HD is available in the Border region, probably something to do with that, but it is a rather odd regional variation.
I guess though Sky viewers who know how could watch it if they really want to - or can Sky black out content completely based on location?

From DS:
* One of the pensioners featured was imprisoned for being a drug dealer who'd buy his stash in Aberdeen
* Vaguely remember something similar with an episode of BBC Panorama in the 90s. I think it wasn't allowed to be shown in N.Ireland, but couldn't be shown on BBC Scotland because of transmitter overlap. I can't remember more about it - perhaps someone will remember - but it was a news item in itself at the time.

If you're watching a FTA channel (either from the EPG or Other Channels) with no card in your box I don't think Sky can do anything region-specific - that's tied to cards AIUI (and all they do is map the right FTA stream to your EPG for 101, 102, 103, 104 etc.) If the signal is not encrypted I don't think they can do much to blank it.

Yes, Steve Hewlett mentioned this the other week as it was when he was Editor of Panorama and Tony Hall was his boss. It was an exclusive interview with John Major which couldn't be shown in Scotland because there was a by-election there that week. So it also couldn't be shown in Northern Ireland or the North East due to overlap.
Just checking the TV guide on sky for ITV1 - Granada (SD) to see whats on later and there is something called "This is ITV1" which is on between 1150pm and 1240pm - is is a showcase show for the new logo and new programmes for the New Year? or is it going to be like "This is BBC2" thing?
But after just checking with the ITV website it's a repeat of Pensioners Behind Bars. Is this a first for a ITV (SD) channel? I know it wasn't on ITV1-Granada (HD) the other night because of the overlap into Scotland but this seems strange!!!
Yeah, if the overlap is the problem, then they should air a regional variation. You know Granada, that thing that used to so common in the schedules but isn't any more?
Not sure what everyone else thought but I thoroughly enjoyed Text Santa yesterday evening. It was light, at times funny and the presenter variations every hour allowed each segment of the program to remain fresh. The charity videos weren't overplayed but had enough output to allow the viewer in my eyes to fully understand where the money was going. I have to say the Coronation Street christmas special was particularly funny.
Comparing it to something like Children In Need this year which I found was quite dull I found it was a lot more easier to watch.
The change in formatting meant that this year there was 1 three hour show instead of two shorter ones like last year, this was a lot better and I felt it allowed the program to flow better.
I am just catching up with Text Santa now, and like you I am enjoying it. I agree it is easier to watch than CiN and seems to flow really well.
CiN overplays the charity video segments, I know this is what the whole thing Is about, but this year they seemed to be shown every 2 minutes. TS seemed to get it just right this year, allowing plenty of time for all the entertainment stuff, without forgetting what the whole thing is about.
It is a lot better than TS last year, which, even though I still liked it, it felt quite last minute in parts. Well done ITV on a great production for a great cause.
