FA
It was actually a Central production, which later became a Carlton production following the takeover.
Of course it was, sorry I didn't point that out.
I've just read more into it on wiki (mainly to find out where it was set due to Newcastle accents, but references to meadowhall, Skegness, & Scarborough) http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_(TV_series)#section_4
I know that it was back in 2002, but it's a shame to think that after getting ratings around 5 million (despite being moved around the schedule) that it was cancelled.
I keep trying to think brekkie about any other pre watershed comedies since. I can only think of TV Burp (originally post watershed), and creature comforts (I think that'd be classed as comedy).
I know that they've commissioned the new comedy with Sir Ian McKellen & Sir Dere Jackobi, but when you look at the raft of new successful comedies this year alone (especially on BBC Three & Sky 1), ITV is left out in the shade.
I may have reached that age already, but it's nice to see a re run of Barbara on itv3 weekday afternoons.
It's a shame that the programme didn't continue, and imo was quite a well written family sitcom, especially as Carlton produced it.
