I think it's time ITV News ditched the virtual set and had something real. What do you think?

I don't think it makes the blindest bit of difference - a well designed set is a well designed set, and similarly for a poor designed set.

Oh don't get me wrong, I did like the Atrium and the London Skyline, but I've hated this one from 2 November 2009

I don't mind the current set at all, while the skyline is one of the best sets ever, but the atrium didn't work at all for me and I think it is generally a mistake to try and make a virtual set look too real. My main problem though with the atrium is it's a space built around straight lines while the set at the time was curved, so for me just didn't work. Had it been the BBC using it as a backdrop in their rectangular barco box it would probably have been much more effective.

A real problem to me was the quality of the atrium. At best the newsrooms looked fuzzy in close-up shots of the newscasters. The skyline is probably the best set they've had in the last decade, followed perhaps by the 2004 look. I really think virtual isn't as bad as some like to make out on here - it's just that the execution of the idea can go either way.

Did you see the US Election set? It showed how a change of colour scheme changes the studio dramatically.

Somebody didn't inform ITV1 continuity that the FA Cup match had been rescheduled & was airing on ITV4 tonight.
At the end of the Martin Lewis Money Show they did a rare Next across the 4 channels promotion with ITV4 showing Celebrity Chase. Oops.

Astonished that despite all ITV staff having seen the new branding weeks ago, we are STILL yet to even hear details, let alone clap eyes on it.

One of the best kept secrets in a while!

As I posted in the other thread, ITV Border came into my school the other day. They filmed with some students in my year, today our headteacher said "We will find out very soon if our students will feature in the new titles for Lookaround". This clearly tells us that ITV Reigonal News will once again have people in the titles, not neccessarly students within my school, but people. I do think that people should be in the Reigonal News titles anyway as it 'our programme' or 'our reigon'.
