I agree with others. I'm actually a fan of the idents. It's just I think the package is too small, very inconsistent and the music is dreadful.
Seconded.
ITV have finally found a branding package that works, and the current ident package will shortly be the longest in continuous use since ITV1 went national. The music is what lets them down, cheap sounding and drone-like.
In contrast to the views above, I can't stand the ITV1 idents. I just don't understand them! What are they supposed to represent? (Opposed to the channel identity) What is the actual theme of them?
Sprays of yellow water coming out of the road and bubbles floating around just don't intrigue me or make me say WOW when I see them like they do when I see Channel 4’s creativity or the BBC One idents such as Helicopter and even Crop Circles or ... it makes me want to watch because they are interesting and have a theme... not the strongest ever created but at least the circle is consistent in the way it connects rather like BBC connect through broadcasting.
I come back to ITV1 and find buildings having a reflection of yellow and yellow sprays of water coming from the ground... in the current state of ITV1 these idents may represent the sub standard programming that occurs but IF the future is looking more promising... will the yellow randomness disappear? Or will bubbles continue to haunt everyone at the majority of junctions in the schedule? At the moment the idents are seriously grating on me in the same way BBC ONE idents did towards the end of the Dancers era.
I'm not a fan of the Idents and the music is worse.Since ITV 1 went national the onair look has been very poor.I liked the Carlton star idents and the LWT video wall ident. ITV 1 branding is boring and bland i find it quite depressing .BBC 1 and Channel 4 have the best idents.

"Alive With Colour", according to MediaGuardian.
There only seems to be one majority colour though... YELLOW! I’m not saying I could do better in creation or execution but surely there are people out there who can produce a better set of idents. Some of the users of this forum such as Lee and Pad are more creative with ideas and execution… making sure logos are consistent in size!
I know some may say that BBC One idents contain red but other colours are in the ident... it's a subtle contrast to retain corporate branding and cosistancy yet the colours are not out of place in the ident compared to Yellow shoots of water from the ground!
What about S4/C! they have great idents. and do BBC, ITV, C4 have voice recognition on their idents???
I agree. As I've only seen these on the internet I cannot fully give an opinion however of what I saw I was really impressed... something which ITV1 doesn't do!
S4/C is unique and stands out and does deserve recognition and at the same time BBC TWO deserves recognition with their package which is similar to Channel 4 and is flexible with their idents for special events.
I don't particularly like the ITV1 idents, they don't really have any meaning apart from representing the channels identity. I mean they have used the garden ident in the middle of winter, and the autumn night ident in the middle of spring. They have the basic elements there to use them properly, but they just choose not to!
The logo is also quite annoying slapped on at different sizes.
The BBC One idents are equally as random, but they don't air idents in a season that hasn't occured this year yet.
The BBC Two ones are no better than the ITV idents. They have just filmed a random place then put a 2 template over the top.
I can't comment on fives idents.
Channel 4 idents are the best of the lot, both creative and instantly recognisable. I just wish they would continue to make new ones and phase the old ones out slowly.
I don't think the fact S4/C have voice activated idents means they're good - and in fact considering they're mixed in with the ones introduced a year or so ago it's as inconsistent as ITV.
And compared to the previous dragon idents the channel has completely lost it's identity.
