I dont think it was a bad package its just ITV treated like crap.

The celebrity idents were dreadful, and they were inflicted on ITV's audience for far longer than necessary. The logo wasn't bad, but alone wasn't sufficient to redeem the set from unbearable cheesiness.

The celebrity idents weren't THAT bad.

I'd argue the identity of ITV was stronger then than it is currently. It's more relevant to see idents featuring stars of ITV rather than people rolling down a hill or idents of random imagery that's vaguely yellow...

Is the rebrand still due for January and is that when ITV1 will become ITV?

Can't wait to see the back of the current ITV News look, never liked it. I wish they'd bring back the 2008 News at Ten, that was superb

Yep, all signs and sources have pointed to an early January launch.

I too can't wait to see the new ITV News, and hope it is more authoritative and not yellow!

Me too... I just hope those overseeing the rebrand ensure the new logo is suitable enough to be used on news and current affairs programming! Would be a great shame if it's not, looking at the efforts they've made over the last couple of years to strengthen that side of ITV - mass coverage of Election 2010, rejuvenated Tonight programme, launch of Exposure strand, etc.

Seeing as it was mentioned a couple of posts above - I'm pretty sure NAT was averaging around 3m every night before the realignment. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it barely averages 1m these days? This yellow 'human interest'-filled era has a lot to answer for surely!

I hope the latest re-vamp doesn't Involve something similar, or indeed any more 'emotion-based' idents.

They were only around for two years - less than half the time of the BBC dancers and as celeb idents go not that bad. The era also gave us a couple of nice generic idents too and IMO the best Christmas ident of the last decade.

The real issue I think is they were the idents that wiped out all traces of regionality - and however good they'd had been we'd have probably hated them for that.

With the full revamp in January I guess we can rule out any effort from ITV this Christmas in terms of presentation.

They'll probably air every normal thing that has been unused, along with the 'Text Santa' idents.

I think I'd prefer to see the 2010 Christmas package being used again if nothing new, or budget given for proper text Santa idents.

How much would it set them back to reuse the 2010 package? Given ITV's standard, those idents were brilliant.

I'm hoping they'll use the rebrand to inject a bit of personality into their announcements into the programmes as well. The current lot are blandness personified.

There used to be a time on here where announcers enjoyed the same 'celebrity' status as newsreaders, presenters etc. Does anyone actually know who the current ITV announcers are ? I couldn't tell you. All I know is they are no equivalents of Trish Bertram or Dame Maggie Mash amongst them.

I agree with the above.

ITV could do with some fresh voices as well. That same man and woman, the most annoying announcers of all the main channels I think.

I think this rebrand is needed, if just for ITV News. That said, it'll be nice to see new identities for the digital channels.

I wonder when we might see or hear just a little bit more about all of this.

Take the new opening titles for Newsnight as an example – great graphics and music...

Well, that's that then. No need for us to take your opinion too seriously. For all we know this new logo could be great.
