ITV have apparently changed their schedule around for tonight, as well as on ITV3.

From Digital Spy:

Quote:
7pm Emmerdale
7:30pm Tonight
8pm Emmerdale
8:30pm Coronation Street
9pm Doc Martin was supposed to be Britain by Night
10pm ITV News at Ten and Weather
10:30pm Local News and Weather
10:35pm Britain By Night was supposed to be The Jonathan Ross Show

ITV3 now has Lewis at 10, with the Butlins documentary at 9.

ITV plc announced today that it had acquired So Television, the independent production company behind hit entertainment and comedy programmes, including The Graham Norton Show and The Sarah Millican Television Programme.

Let's see which paper spins that tomorrow as Graham Norton joining ITV.

The two programmes cited are good comedy shows (and no doubt heavily influenced by their respective stars) but I hope ITV leave this well alone and just 'own' it, rather than attempt to merge it into ITV Studios. ITV just don't do comedy that well.

So this is turning ITV into a productions company once again, thank goodness. Im sure LWT wanted to do this years ago,

Already is a production company

ITV Studios
12 Yard

and now SO Television

But they also own Cosgrove Hall Films in name only although the "department" was closed down

I am sure they own other production companies as well - but could be mistaken.

Shiver is another (although it's in-house), based at YTV, the distant descendant of Tyne Tees/Granada Factual North or whatever it was that made those top 100 shows about ten years ago. They made the Top 30 C4 Comedy countdown show, amusingly Smile

I think Action Time was absorbed at the time of the Granada merger, as was Planet 24 (the makers of Survivor and Big Breakfast) which Carlton also owned.

Action Time still appears during the end credits of You've Been Framed.

According to Companies House, Planet 24 is still techncally an active company. It's registered at ITV house (Upper Ground) and most of the directors appear to be ITV's legal eagles.
Last year the company made a turnover of..£2.

Obviously that's a nominal sum ITV pay each year to keep the company going (even though it does nothing) and keeps companies house happy.
I have wondered why since I found that out, ITV Plc just don't wind Planet 24 up.

Action Time was merged with Granda at the time of ITV Plc, but it was effectively a Central company prior to that, before Carlton bought the company back again.

With regards to Chatsworth, the company ceased to exist after Malcolm Heyworth retired, but he appears now to be the head of a company called Chatsworth Enterprises Limited which presumably looks after the archive.

ITV is currently running with no announcer this morning, at the news headlines junction and the junction into In Plain Sight there was no continuity announcer, just a ident with music. It started of low, as obviously the announcer would have been speaking before going loud.
