The graphics on Breakfast are certainly HD.

And also, here it's usually ITV1. Some of the older generation may call it just ITV or Granada.

I know many of my friends (late 30's early 40's) don't call it ITV 1 its either Granada or just ITV - but more often than not its Granada. Think it helps that the news programmme still has Granada in the name!

I grew up with Granada here in the NW but these days I never use that term unless I am referring to regional news and/or Granada TV in Manchester. I always say ITV and like noggin said, would only say ITV1 if I want to differentiate between the ITV channels. I can't honestly say I hear anyone say Granada or even 'three' any more. The vast majority of times I hear people refer to the channel, they say ITV. I think 'three' is dying out because on many platforms it's now 103 or a completely different number in HD. People don't seem to associate a channel with an EPG number any more.

In our house - even back in the days when YTV and its regional presentation was in full swing - it has always been "ITV", and so it remains today. I'm sure my grandparents and a few other relatives must have referred to "Yorkshire", "YTV" or "channel three" but I can't really remember, it's just always seemed to be plain old ITV for reasons I've never been able to work out! Whenever TV comes up in conversation, a lot of friends around my age tend to shift between using "ITV" or "ITV1".

Probably because "Yorkshire" isn't as distinctive as Granada due to it also being the name of the county!. YTV wasn't used since before the 1989 corporate look I don't think, and sounds very similar to ITV anyway.

I'd do anything to get another region! STV is just terrible, taking off network shows and replacing it with scottish history docu-rubbish! I used to watch The Bill, so I spent Tueday/Thursday nights onITV London, much better!

When STV took the Bill off it was crap. The Main reason why STV took off ITV Show Which there have now stopped doing, so Im not sure why you still want to change areas, was because of a court case in which STV did not lose.

Were now back at Square one, too much ITV London and no proper opt outs Mad were never really had that in the first place, Come back Gus McDonald.

Well you can spin that however you like, but the dispute resulted in a settlement between the two broadcasters, in which STV agreed to pay ITV something like £18m.

The reason STV opted out from the ITV network during these shows is because it was costing STV a hell of a lot of money!!

I believe ITV wanted double that amount of something above and STV said no, and went to court there did say from the start, there are willing to pay but not overpriced payments in which the court agreed.
