Noticed that ITV are promoting this Saturdays line-up on radio, both Capital FM and Heart FM have given the ad a lot of airtime. The first promo like this that I have ever heard.
I'll reserve
full
judgement until I see it in action, but first impression is ugh - too fussy.
Okay, now I've seen it - that logo is fussy and the style of animation is so very dated (cf. BBC Once o'Clock News 1987)
I think it suits the promo perfectly. Several of the dramas being promoted are period pieces suiting that style of font/animation.
I also don't think its too fussy, there are only four words (including the itv logo as one word) and each word is clear and legible.
If this promo is a sign of things to come, could any rebrand involve the itv lettering only, and remove the shapes, I suppose it could work similar to Sweden's svt, having the numeral of the channel retaining the colour.
Doubt it. The ITV logo locks in too neatly (which as good as confirms that any rebrand won't involve a corporate logo change)
Considering that it's not some sort of carving ITV has commissioned, I think it wouldn't be impossible to alter the logo, or even produce a promo with both logos.
