It's been doing that for while, bit odd though.

Not sure if there is any significance in it or if its just another promo design, but the new adverts for X Factor have been running across ITV for the last couple of days. They end with a huge metallic ITV1 logo and it looks quite good. I also really like the arrangement of the theme tune too (although it wouldn't work on the actual show).

An interview with Adam Crozier on the latest Media Show. A good summary of ITV's recent failures and its future.

Summary:

- Crozier in post for 2 and a half years

- When he arrived he viewed it as disjointed, was losing viewing on its share of channels, hadn't invested in online or in the pay revolution. He saw the production arm as in a joke.

- He thinks the turnaround moved further than expected but there's much to do

- Last year non-ad revenue increased by £90m and this year in the first six months it's been up by over £100m

- On returning dramas, the strategy long term is to make longer parters. Mr Selfridge is upcoming and 12 parts. Surprise Surprise back in the Autumn.

- Admits big entertainment shows have flopped when made in house. New Head of Entertainment joining in the Autumn.

- Says Simon Cowell is important to the network and he looks forward to new projects from him.
There is a tendency to forget shows like XF and BGT started at 5m. He says the series without Simon was 3rd most successful. There's still time to get it right. It's a fact of life he does one but not the other.

- Regarding regional, Crozier says the regions are a huge part of ITV. Over a third of hours are produced in Manchester. Mrs Biggs and Home Front both coming from Manchester.

- News should be more local. He uses example of watching Anglia News in Milton Keynes is nonsensical.
Viewers want competition on a regional level to the BBC. ITV are committed to making this work, and he believes it can be done without adding costs. ITV are in talks with Ofcom who are being "very supportive" of what they'd like. No further comment on what is planned until "we're ready to announce"

- License with Ofcom in place until 2014. Crozier believes it was very balanced. Ofcom and ITV agree on the license and are p"retty much in the same place"

- Regarding pay TV: a real potential for archive content; Sky content doing well; the Pay Player has been in 5000 homes for the last two months.

- Pay Player will eventually launch with free 7 day catchup (ad supportive) and 1000 hours for episodes to rent by episodes.

- Will launch on PC only then will roll out to other platforms (Apple, Android) including potential subscription and other products.

- Key is to get pricing and programming right - research group responded very well to the concept.

I dont Think he utilised ITV past archive yet and his idea of making people pay I dont think will work either. STV put alot of there show out for free on youtube. Maybe he should have done the same. we could have gotten lost gems, expect for Thames and TVS.

I think he got this all wrong, "yes people like buying our BOX set" but he believe this will make people switch over to a online version? I have no seen much proof of this, I still believe people would still rather buy the box set than download them , Box set is real etc.

If STV was smart, there should start talks with ITV about creating a new return drama/series for the itv network. It would help STV, Glasgow etc while give ITV more use of there non London operations.

Of course OFCOM should get rid of that 25% all programmes to be made by indy produces and also to get rid of the how much ITV can charge for adverts.

But again is ITV any difference from the following offering from ITV in the 1980s: on Saturday nights

5.05 Blockbuster
5.35 A team
6.35 Copy cats
7pm Price is Right
8pm T J hooker
9pm News
9.15 Tales of unexpected
9.45 Aspel and co

Or

5.05 Blockbusters
5.35 A team
6.30 Blind date
7.15 Copy cats
7.45 321
8.45 News
9pm Dempsey and makepace
10pm Tales of the unexpcted
10.30 Snooker

Should think the ITV1 rebrand will be in place by the time Downton Abbey and The X Factor have started, though it may be slightly after the latter since I'm thinking first week on September.

Is this a guess or do you have it on good authority? Just wondering!

I do feel quite positive about this rebrand, ITV have churned out some good pres for ITV1 in the last year or so.
