In the case of ITV2 you are female, probably buy celeb mags and go clubbing every Saturday so won't want anything more than soap repeats and banal reality shows.

But that's who it is aimed at. It's like saying 'BBC News think everyone is obsessed with news'. That's who it is targeting.

It has improved a bit in the last few years as a couple of years ago they had some real stinkers for new content( anyone remember Paris Hilton's Best Friend or whatever it was called?). I suppose a 44 year old man whose idea of clubbing is visiting a social club isn't likely to watch. However, BBC Three, which is aimed at a similar age group, seems to be far better with more original content, but, of course, it doesn't broadcast during the day and has more time to develop programming.

It seems that despite being flagged as HD on the EPG as well as the ITV1 HD DOG pops up, Let Do Lunch with Gino and Mel looks upscaled.

Is anyone in a position to screen grab from the promo?

Still excited for this revamp... can't wait to hear more. Really hope ITV surprises us.

What's good about ITV's channels is that they resist temptation to upgrade their successful shows to ITV1. If a show on BBC Three gets significant ratings or attention, it's bumped up to BBC One or Two. TOWIE or Celebrity Juice couldve sat comfortably on ITV1 but they are ITV2 shows. It shows more respect for the multichannels in my opinion, and helps keep their distinct identities.

Neither TOWIE nor Celebrity Juice would sit comfortably in ITV1's schedule. TOWIE's another definition of trashy (as in beyond ITV1) whilst the adult nature of CJ just wouldn't suit the channel. Aside from Secret Diary and the odd daytime American import I can't think of many other shows that have been repeated on ITV1, they're not really good enough.

Though there was a phase in the noughties when distinctly ITV2 shows like Love Island were stripped across ITV1 for a month to a largely disintered audience. These were the kind of shows that suited ITV2 very well and the ratings would have been good on there, but landed on the main channel and flopped. Same as Lemonaid would have been classed as bit too family oriented for ITV2 and wouldn't interest their twentysomething female audience much.

Interesting (or perhaps not) that ITV have commissioned 'Prize Island' a new gameshow to be presented by Alexander Armstrong and Emma Willis.

Interesting for the 'Pointless' connection in that the format was created by Richard Osman and that Alexander Armstrong will present.

That hasn't really happened that on the BBC either. I can only think of a couple of programmes that have moved from BBC3/4 to 1/2 even the successful ones have stayed put. That is except for repeats on the 'main' channels which they do more than ITV, although Celebrity Juice has had a second showing on ITV1

Little Britain, QI and Gavin & Stacey are the immediate ones that come to mind. Irrelevant of peoples tastes on here, there are some shows on ITV2 which have proved popular and the fact that they have been kept on ITV2 has helped cement its brand identity as a channel, rather than just an add on to the 'main channel'.

Yes definitely, the launch of ITV4 I think has allowed ITV2 to really focus more on the younger audience rather than the general entertainment channel with a youth slant it launched with back in 1998.

QI was a BBC2 show. BBC4 used to show the next episode a week early originally though. The Apprentice You're Fired was the other one I thought of.

Yeah, although it's carving out an identity in the evenings, it's still an ITV1 timeshift most of the time
