Thanks Johnnie and Jonny... or should that be Jonnies?
Interesting to see the old logo. Can't say I think it looks that fresh anymore. In fact, it looks rather over-fussy and dated now. It's also interesting that, imo, the ITN logo from the same period (the blue and gold one) also looks rather dated. I don't think ITN could get away with using it now either.

Indeed, I think all of ITV's logos haven't aged well. Here's hoping that such a refresh comes up with a timeless logo like Lambie-Nairn did for the BBC back in 1997.
I'm dreaming of a full-blown revamp of everything from the ground up here, I need a MediaGuardian article revealing modest tweaks to logos to be published so I stop!
Royal Season coming soon for the Jubilee Celebrations, using a hand drawn style of presentation with a Union Jack coloured hand drawn ITV1 logo. Looks very nice & different.

Did Blue Peter have a competition to draw that aswell? Matches the official logo.
Automation going a bit haywire on ITV1 tonight due to the cancellation of Vera tonight. Title boards over Emmerdale and then Vera break bumpers where they shouldn't be
More creative use of the logo - engraved on a clay court for the French Open trail.
Bodes well for the rebrand, methinks.
It's possible they'll keep the logo and just overhaul the idents and other pres to be better. The varied use of the logo without yellow is surely foreshadowing a reduction/abandonment of the yellow.
Titanic promos, Documentary season promo, Jubilee promo and now the French Open trail.
This is one of my favourite examples of how they utilised the logo very well.
The logo is not the problem for me, it's the music & the way in which it's been used that's the problem.
I've no problem with the music and think it does the job very well - it's an instantly recogniseable hook which brings you back to the TV for the show if you're out of the room. The re-edited BBC1 idents don't do that very well at all now.
